Hello everyone,

I filed N400 online on October 1st 2020 and got Biometric on August 10 2021, then my status changed to "Case is being actively reviewed by USCIS" with estimated time 12 months. I started seeing others filed later than me got the interview scheduled which make me feel extremely bad. Is there anything wrong with my case?

Hi, When did the case status changed to "Case is being actively reviewed by USCIS"

the estimate of 12 months is very normal when it is close to getting interview notice.

@mnt96:   How did state the fact to the officer that you "forgot to mention" the traffic tickets and what was the exact response ?   I had a speeding ticket from 2006 and a "no headlamps" ticket from 2012 which I omitted . I was not sure if I should be mentioning something from this old. I do not retain any documentation from these citations either.

@arnab221 yes just mention.  It doesn't affect your case.  So it's better to mention it than be accused of lying.

We filed during (01/10/22) and completed our biometrics yesterday(02/11) at the Tukwila office . After the biometrics my USCIs account started showing this weird error . Is everyone getting this or is it just me ? The status on the case changed to "Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS" .

Mine was also showing this + now my eta time doubled (3 to 7 months) :(

For what it's worth - by all accounts that ETA time is entirely meaningless. There are people who take much more or much less time than ETA. For me personally this ETA has been wildly jumping back and forth and there was even a day when it jumped twice within a single day. Lately it has been stable though.

Totally agreed here.

I know we're all anxious and temped to jump at any update to our cases (I know I was), but that online estimated time to completion is the one thing I learned to totally IGNORE.

Please do yourself a favor and just disregard whatever the time estimation says -- you'd sleep much better at night. I'm interviewing next month and my online estimation jumped from 3 months (2 weeks ago) to 18 months (last week when I got my interview notice) and now 20 months.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day -- I have yet to see any occasion where this prediction is accurate, nor any rhymes or reasons on how the prediction changes. As a data scientist, I'm really curious what kind of model and data USCIS is using to make these prediction -- it's so hilariously random and bad.

Haha yes, I as myself a software engineer but worked closely with DS stuff and I have been wondering about the same. They must use some dumb median at best, while the real thing probably has a lot more nuance and signals. E.g. did the person apply during pandemic? (see people who applied during the pandemic and still wait, while people who applied much later receive their notices in less than a year). I'd also speculate that their data pipeline has ridiculous delays as well as gaps, possibly, i.e. you don't get a uniform flow of applications but the data rather comes in discrete and non-uniform dumps (for example maybe they suddenly cleared up the old backlog and dumped a bunch of processed applications from years ago and suddenly median jumps from 12 months to 18).

Found the new thread!

I’m stressing because I still don’t have my naturalization certificate back after getting my first US passport. It’s been 3 weeks, though the passport site says it can take up to 4. Thank goodness I scanned it before going to get my passport so at least I have a record of it. I’m a little worried.

There’s a passport number but that didn’t help. Once it’s officially “4 weeks” from when I got my passport in the mail… 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ugh. And I found The form to request a replacement naturalization certificate with USCIS. $555

That would hurt. Trying not to worry until March.

Lurker here.. Happy to update that my N-400 processing completed (Priority Date Sept 28 2020 Naturalization date Feb 10 2022)

NA-1 experience is a good summary with a couple of additional points

- You are allowed into the center only 15 minutes before appointment. I had arrived about 45 earlier but ended up waiting in my vehicle for 30 mins

- Interview sample that I watched on youtube made it seem like a friendly chat with actor playing USCIS officer saying things like good choice. Actual interview was much more businesslike. Unexpected questions were which company filed for your GC, when you came to this country and how. Which company sponsored your H1.

-I was in waiting room by 2 pm. I was called in by about 2:15 pm and all formalities were completed by 2:45. Certificate was given at 3 pm (it looks like they batch up and distribute naturalization certificates every 15 minutes)

My spouse submitted N-400 within 1 hour of my online application but had a priority date 2 days later to mine and interview 2 weeks later .
