Had interview and same day oath today. 10:45 appointment, parked at overly expensive parking lot for $8+ tax. Had to scan bags and photo + finger prints (not biometric).
Waited for 10 minutes or so and got called right on time. was in-person interview. No additional documents asked, just updated travel history based on my flight records they have.
Got same day oath which took another 10 minutes waits + 10 minutes.

In and out of the building in an hour and half. It was fast.

Congratulations, and thanks for coming back and telling us about it!

Thanks for sharing. I just checked online and they close at 3 pm, and the 877 number I called, no one was picking up and I wasn’t able to speak to an agent past 3 pm. Please DM me, I might be missing something.

Let's keep it here so it can potentially help others. The number she called is 1-877-487-2778; the hours for that number are 8am to 10pm Eastern time. It is a national scheduling line, not a direct line to the local office. If you call and don't get the phone tree, then something is wrong.

I haven't done it, but isn't it just about filling N400 form stating the new name? What are your concerns?

It should be, but I’ve seen messages in this thread before that people were directed to do it afterwards through court instead, so I am just wondering what’s the current situation.

Name changes are linked to the Oath ceremony. Ceremonies are of two types Judicial( Judge administers the oath) and Non Judicial(USCIS official administers the oath) . Name changes can be allowed in Judicial ceremonies only which are far and few in between. Most ceremonies are non judicial . If you like to change your name , be prepared to wait for your Judicial oath ceremony.

Thank you! Do you know how long that wait could be? I mean, is it a few days, weeks, or months?

Very hard to say . Judicial ceremonies depend on the Judge's docket and timelines. You can learn about the type of ceremonies here.

What if the change of name was already done months before applying for N-400? I changed my name in February of 2021 and applied in October 2021. My oath ceremony was scheduled for April 30th, 2022 and cancelled on the day of the ceremony and I'm still waiting to be rescheduled. This is Houston Tx.

Hi, a question for anyone that also has or had a pending I-751 along with their N400:

My wife received an interview notice last week for her N400 (applied April 2021), it doesn't mention the I-751 (applied January 2020) and the case status for the I-751 has not changed (still says case ready to be scheduled for interview since Oct. 2020). We called USCIS to ask and they said it is up to the discretion of the interviewing officer on whether they want a separate interview for the I-751 and/or if they will combine them into a single interview. The USCIS representative also said I wouldn't be able to enter the building since my name is not on the N400 interview notice, obviously this would make it hard to participate in an interview if the officer wants to do one.

What have the experiences been from other members with pending I-751 and N400 applications? Did you receive separate notice for the I-751 interview and did that case status change? Were you able to accompany your spouse with only their N400 interview notice?

Hey there. I also have a pending I751. Did you end up getting a combo interview? I would appreciate any details.

Oh wow. I applied 7/29 and booked an international trip over Thanksgiving, now I hope I can take the trip since it sounds like I may hear about an interview around then!

Congrats! That's crazy fast. I wish my local office (Minneapolis) got inspired from Seattle's speed.

It varies. I wouldn't worry about the unknown. If it happens to fall during your trip, then time to prioritize one over the other.
