Thanks for such a detailed breakdown! Congrats on passing the interview, and I'm sorry about your file. I hope the 90 days thing is just a cautious estimate and that you hear back soon.

I am not sure how this works but I wonder why did they even schedule the interview when they did not have the file ?  Dejecting people who have come with positive mental aspiration in this way is downright cruel.

The days of the individual interviews like we see the older videos has passed, will become the minority going forward.

While the USCIS has not released a lot of photos on the new virtual interview process , but I assume its more like a barebones office cubicle with high separators ,  a drawer , a fixed tablet and a headset . I also visualize many adjacent cubicles and a rather noisy call center like atmosphere where lots of people anxiously facing their interviewer and answering questions rather loudly and crisply.

The people are all sitting and given the high walls cannot see each other , but they can hear each other and it can be distracting. The bottleneck here is the admin who has to run around these folks sending and receiving documents.

This is exactly how it was with only one change. There are two tablets (or in the case of my wife two tablets and a monitor because the screen on one was having issues). One tablet is used for video conferencing and the other is used for the reading/writing portion.

It might be a bit less hectic at 8-30am during your interview - I think I read elsewhere in this thread that it's least busy early in the morning.

How are you feeling about having at 8-30am interview? I'm not a morning person so that part is not pleasant 😂

I assume your wife didn't know if the interview was going to be via video conference or in person, or did they give a hint in the notice of interview?

I am wondering if people with problems of hearing could bring their own headphones in order to help them hear better... (talking a bit about myself here). Reading that she could hear others and that it was distracting, I am a bit concerned about my interview if it happens to be in front of a tablet rather than in person.

I would imagine they wouldn't let you take devices through security beyond your cell phone. I could also see someone getting upset if you start trying to unplug headphones from the set up...

Yes, I can imagine the same... I hope to be in that small percentage that can have the interview in person, fingers crossed.

Im not sure if you can ask for an in person interviewer. However, I believe they allow a person with the petitioner in cases of disability.

A suggestion would be to ask someone to come along with you. If they do not allow them to enter the building then another idea would be to request  one of the assistants there to speak the question aloud as the interviewer is asking them.

They updated my case and they sent me an oath appointment letter for September 9th.

TBH with all the immigration drama I’ve faced over the years it didn’t faze me much. I was more like I’ve not done anything wrong and if things go sideways I can always hire an attorney to handle it.

😁🤞 . There is little one can do other facing whatever comes at them . My only hope is that we are done with everything that day and we can close this chapter. 😁

I feel a lot of folks, myself included, overthink the interview.

I was sweating it before hand but the interview is really just a chance for the officer to ensure that you know your civics stuff and that you are being truthful.

Study. And as to the veracity of your claims, if you told you truth in what you claimed on the form and throughout the immigration process, you will be fine.

It really depends on the person... :)
The google doc helps in getting a prediction of your interview date, as it takes into account the last 10 data points prior to your case.

Yep, most of us use both to try to estimate where USCIS is at.

Good luck to everyone with interviews coming up!

Yep, she picked it up yesterday.

Since we are travelling at the end of the month, she called to get an appointment that evening after getting her citizenship.

I was absolutely stunned that she was able to get a passport appointment so easily. The phone tree said waits were over an hour, but then immediately an agent picked right up and she had an appointment for two days later (last Friday). Since we weren't traveling in the next couple days, she got her passport in two business days. Otherwise, she would have gotten it the same day.
