I think mid-Sept would be very ambitious but they definitely still have their work cutout for them if they are going to reach the USCIS goal of all cases processed within 6 months by the end of FY2023

Expand

I meant they should have their interviews scheduled by mid Sept - so maybe complete by end October. That would be a 10 month turnaround time for a December filer - so only slightly faster than it currently seems to be (11 months from application to interview).

Then they still have all year next year to try improve from 10 months waiting time to 6 months (target by end FY2023).

Ahh, I misread. Yeah that definitely seems reasonable if they are going to meet their 6mo target at the end of FY2023.

A close friend of mine received her interview letter last week for August. She is March 2022 filler ( 5 year), that's in about 3 months. Seattle field office is definitely working.

That's crazy!! Did she have it expedited?

It is not expedited. I don't think N400 can be expedited unless you are in military or national interest.

Super weird that they would schedule someone from March this year when there are still lots of people from last year waiting. Also unfair.

But thanks for the additional info!

Kind of. The definition of national interest is very loose. For example, you can expedite for business reasons if the business benefits the USA, there is a thread about it in this forum. Basically, if the money from the business comes back to the USA and this business is moving the US Citizen to a temporary international position, then that is sufficient to expedite for the LPR spouse. Also, congrats to your friend!

This out-of-order processing is pretty rare but happens from time-to-time. It seems like one or two cases a year get processed out-of-order. To be honest, nobody knows for certain why this happens but it seems to be more common right after a bunch of new agents get hired (like right now). My guess is a new agent grabbed a case from the wrong end of their workload.

There is a passport subsection to the Citizenship sub-forum. You will likely have better results there.

Hello! Just to give you all some hope: I just got an interview notice for the end of August and I applied only at the beginning of October (reused biometrics) so perhaps things are improving! The interview is in their Seattle location.

Congrats! It sure does seem like they are improving! Also, do you mind adding your data (application date, interview notice date, interview date, etc.) to this tracking spreadsheet? The more datapoints we have, the better the estimates for new applicants.
