Ok super disappointing news. I got *another* letter from USCIS saying “sorry for the inconvenience but we had to de-schedule your previously scheduled interview due to unforeseen circumstances”. The letter says they will be in touch with another date or next steps. I’ve never heard of this before. Has anyone else gotten anything like it ?

I'm sorry to read your interview was rescheduled.

It is possible that the person who had your case in their workload is indisposed for an urgent reason and they may have some difficulty reassigning and redistributing the cases to other officers. I don't think it has anything to do with your paperwork at all.

You'd be better off expecting them to take time to sort that out.

Cheers,

We got one of those.

Since we were flying in from Germany, and an IO had reached out to us via Email to originally schedule our date to coincide with when we would be back in the states, I just emailed him back and he got us our appointment back.  However, before he did that I saw that they had scheduled us for a new time nine days later.    With that said, hopefully they will reschedule you soon.

Thank you. My best guess right now is that the winter storms in the PNW have disrupted interview schedules. It’s possible they are reworking case loads as they cope from the fallouts.

Hello Seattle N-400 Filers,

Updating the thread that we have now been issued a USCIS Form N-4405 Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony for January 2023.

This would be a few days over 18 months to the day from the filing of I-751 Removal of Conditions via Lockbox and assigned to LIN Nebraska for processing.

This would be a few days over 6 months to the day from the filing of N-400 Application for Naturalization via Online and processed in Seattle, WA.

You can see more details in my timeline.

The journey is almost over and we are very grateful and appreciate all of you in this forum for keeping us company along the way.

Happiest new year to everyone,

G&A

Hello Seattle N-400 Filers,

Any recent N400 interview scheduled notices out of Seattle? Still appears to be paused and wondering when they would resume N400 processing!

update on mine: interview was rescheduled ! 2/16/23 now. Pushed out by a week. No idea why or what prompted it.

I just went to my interview today.

I asked about changing my name legally during naturalization here and the response I received was not completely correct, so I’ll elaborate here.

They do not have judicial oath ceremonies in Seattle field office, period. So name change during naturalization is not allowed. Even if you choose to change your name in the form, you’ll have to modify that answer to “No” because they can’t do it.

Any other questions- let me know! Everything was smooth and easy.

Just saw in the online system that on Jan 3 my interview was scheduled for Feb 16, so there is movement. Just over 2.5 months since filing, so way faster than the 9 months projected at the time.

I have some international travel coming up shortly after my naturalization interview. I want to apply for passport via the urgent travel expedite process. Has anyone done this before ? How quickly can I get my passport this way?

I'll be in a similar spot, but it depends on whether there will be a same-day oath ceremony. Once you've had the ceremony you can look for urgent travel appointments at the Seattle Agency if you have proof of travel within 14 days. I've seen people in this thread getting their passport same day within that category.

Interesting. My appointment is very early in the morning (so I'm hoping no reason to not have same day oath). Do you or anyone know why you wouldn't have same day oath?

Also on the passport - should I call and make an appointment prior to my citizenship interview so I'm prepared or will they not allow that?
