I intend on flying through Dublin when I finally head over too. Apparently alot easier to clear, quicker and you can relax on your flight over the atlantic knowing that it's all done. Also it's actually the cheapest and easiest route to US from glasgow anyways!

Sounds grand! Not sure if it is cheaper for me or not but am definitely going to consider it - am very worried about not getting through immigration in Feb though - could you imagine it?! *shudders*

well, even in that Q&A thread they posted, they said something like 'if you believe your petition was incorrectly rejected, please send it back stating your reasons', which is what you've done, AND you've submitted evidence... of course no one can say for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if you got some good news soon smile.gif

So, if you go via Dublin you don't have to go through immigration in the US? I don't get it, but if it works I want to know about it

Yeah - you can go through US immigration in Dublin or... oh I can't remember the other place in Ireland...

And if I get a fulltime job now, I cannot get day off easily for medical check, interviews etc. I think it depends on the country, but in Japan, it is not very good to have a permanent fulltime job if you are leaving soon. Well, at least I have some cash to survive until I marry. What does everyone do?

Same thing with me. I work at a cafe as a part time. I was planning to have a fulltime job, but I will eventually leave and move to the US after I marry, so it is hard to find a fulltime job. I'm lucky. I have a job where they are very understanding. They willing to give me the days off. They know that I'll be leaving but fine with keeping me on. All they as is that they know when my interview is so they can start recruiting my replacement then start them once I know when I'm definatly leaving...they even want me to train my replacement for my last week!

With regards to the dublin thing...if you clear imigration in ireland you go straight through to connections or baggage reclaim in US. The other irish airport is shannon. I think it's only if your flight aer lingus or AA and I believe chicago o hare and denver are only destinations

I've been very fortunate with that too... I have two part-time jobs, and both of them are very glad for me to work as long as I can, and only ask that I tell them as early as possible when I know anything concrete (they understand that that may still be a while however!)

like you, debz, both are hoping to have a replacement in time for me to do some handover, which I'd be very happy to do

Ok-- completely off topic, but i have to ask this! I was just talking to this girl -she's american. Her English boyfriend came to the US to spend the summer with her, and they got married. No special situation- he didn't have a job, isn't related to anyone in the US, etc. He's now living with her here in the US, but can't work. He's hired a lawyer and they think they'll get his green card in 4 to 5 months. #######?! How does that work?? Anyone know what i'm missing here? I thought if you got married, you still had to be separated while you filed for your K3 visa.... I'm so lost.

I guess they've claimed 'no intent', so they've just married without any sort of visa and are now adjusting status

yea same thing is happening with my ladlady and her husband. But their case is "worse" b/c he was here illegaly and got married to her (the US citizen) in june on the beaches of St. Petersburg Fl (beautiful pics) and the other day he informed me that he already got the interview for the AOS.......and they don't have any lawyers..........I wish I would've known that earlier, I would've done the same thing with Ricardo, oh well just goes to show you how "strict" USCIS is

PS: no, they're not cuban, they're colombian, so in this case the country he was from didn't matter.....
