USCIS just published some new information about receipting delays. I have not read it yet but at first glance it looks like their attempt to keep customers informed.

OK I read it. It is does not contain the revelations I was hoping to see, but these are what I consider to be the key points that relate to us:

  1. It is good to see them at least trying to communicate better. :)
  2. Since this new information deals almost exclusively with receipting delays, we are still left guessing about the current situation on adjudications. :(
Good news: "USCIS is realigning its resources to eliminate the receipt delay as quickly as possible. This effort includes increasing the number of contract employees, as well as requiring significant mandatory overtime and shift work. USCIS also has temporarily detailed Government staff to centers that have been affected the most by the large influx of cases."

Bad news for K1 & K3 petitions, but maybe good news for those applying for AOS? : ¨The Application to Adjust Status (I-485) will have first priority because USCIS needs to ensure that these applications are receipted in a timeframe that would allow processing of an application for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) within 90 days of filing as mandated by law [8 CFR 247a.13(d)]. Our second priority will be to receipt the Application for Naturalization (N-400) so that we can minimize any delays in obtaining citizenship. USCIS is working to ensure all Applications for Adjustment of Status (I-485) are receipted and any accompanying applications for employment authorization documents (EADs) are processed within 90 days. USCIS is realigning its resources to meet this deadline.¨

This is a good link for those who are still waiting for their NOA1´s.

I also posted this in the VSC K1/K3 forum so if you saw it there please forgive the double post. I thought it would be a good idea to post it here also since the CSC members won´t see the other post.

Thanks for the info, I won't waste my time reading the article because you have done an awesome job giving us the most important facts, in other words you told us what we want to know. It it kind of discouraging knowing that our apps ar not "#1 priority" but at least we know we're in there and the USCIS is "trying" to make a difference. Oh well............ All I want for Christmas is my NOA2!

Yes, All I want for my Xmas is NOA2. It is so crazy that some people cannot get NOA1 hard copy. It took me about 10 days for them to publish my NOA1, but there are people who cannot even get NOA1. USCIS really needs to think about solving this huge delay. My fiance is here to think when we should have wedding because we need to prepare many things, but we cannot. It is sad.

Shame no one at USCIS thought about this before the HB1- deadline or the obvious rush to file before the fee increase. Well i guess you get the best managers and Administrators in the Fedral Govt right, Mr Brown (ex) of FEMA is probably the norm. But dont worry they are all grads of of Princetown, Harvard etc so they understand the common people, and I'm sure they are all working 16 hours a day to remedy their depts oversight and failings.

useful article; even more useful summary, Bill y Bella - many thanks! :)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

My projected date has moved *again* to the 15th of Dec now... I guess we just have to ride the wave and hope we get to the beach safely!! It's looking more and more likely that we are going to have to have a non-legal wedding first though :/

oh, babblesgirl; that's great news :)

I don't know how you've managed not to go completely mad with the not-knowing... I'm not HAPPY waiting, but I'm reasonably patient; however, if my cheque hadn't even been cashed I think I would have been going stir-crazy

were you able to get the receipt number off the back, and join us in the 'I think I'll just check the USCIS website once more' brigade? ;)

Hah! I must hide it well. I guess, I felt that there were so many others that were in a similar position and there's some comfort in having company even when things appear bleak. And I did feel really despondent and impatient at times.

OK, next job is getting that case number. I'm just in a 'thrilled the check has been cashed' mood right now and will leave the fretting over NOA1 and receipt number until later. I'm giving myself some time to feel excited before the impatience kicks in again. I still don't know what receipt date they're going to give us but I'm determined not to worry about that till it happens.

I will be wallowing in the comfort of being with the 'check the USCIS website once more' brigade very soon. I promise you...and I will be glad to be in that kind of company :)

my gut feeling is you'll have the receipt date you're supposed to... you may have gathered from my other posts that my petition was sent on from VSC (where it was supposed to be sent, under the new filing rules) to CSC, and the note on the USCIS website says 'on 27th July, we received...', but the hard copy of the NOA1 says July 19, exactly as it was supposed to :)

and the cheque has stamps on the back from both VSC and CSC... it's a mess back there

well done on staying sane til this point, anyway! I'm really glad you've finally moved to the next step (the Plateau of Ineffable Boredom; it's LOADS of fun ;) )
