my understanding is the january 13th date just means that's the oldest NOA2 they are working on.probably someone with a RFE that is still being processed. they are also working on others with newer dates.

Chris

Thanks Chris - If I may ask, how did you get to figure that out, about that date being the oldest? Oh, and I have been meaning to ask this, what's a RFE?

I sent mine on July 27th, it was delivered on the 28th according to USPS online tracking, yet the hardcopy return receipt was stampted the 30th.

I still have not yet gotten my NOA1 nor have I had my check clear. Depending on when you believe they truely received it, 28th or 30th, it has been 2 weeks since either today (Sat) or will be 2 weeks Monday that they have had my submission.

Janaus, I'm confused as to your dates on the spreadsheet. Please confirm. Says yours was received on the 27th? yet your priority date is the 18th?

Hi Arrta,

I'm a confused too, not sure where you are reading the priority date? I missed it on the spreadsheet..my info hasn't been updated on that yet. All I know is what I put on my timeline underneath.

I mixed up your information with that of the person you quoted. My bad.

STILL waiting on my check or NOA1.. And I'm gonna be on a business trip Mon - Wed so I wont be able to check my mail.

Anyone know what there is to do in Bowling Green, KY this time of year? I'm headed to Western Kentucky University to do a product installation.

they have cave city or somethin like that, they also have a small amusement park, and not too far from Mammoth cave.

Our date has been sliding as well but it is only a projected date and only as accurate as the timelines that are filled out... I hope everyone here has filled their timeline in and done it properly (ie NOA1 date is the date it was issued, not the date the hard copy was received :D).

People are hoping for February - we are *prtaying* for Feb - otherwise we have to go through the whole crummy process again post-wedding on Feb 11th - less than six months til we are married now and looks like the honeymoon is going to have to be Hawaii :D Yay!!! *coughs* I mean uh, damn

Ok - I'm gonna go finish my things then we are going to do some shopping at the Mall and go see Harry Potter :)

I think a good way to avoid such skewed timeline predictions would be to make VJ memberships expirable. When you do a timeline search/sort you notice that soo many of those members haven't even logged in for more than a year. So, if they abandon their profiles after they've posted their NOA1 and before their NOA2, it can really affect our timeline predictions. So, why hasn't anyone (mods, etc) done anything to free up some space here on VJ by deep-sixing all abandoned profiles? I realize this would also delete profiles from past members who HAVE completed their timelines, thus also affecting our averages. But I'd rather lose those contributors than to keep the incomplete forgotten memberships that are destroying our predicted dates. I mean, why even have those dates? They are doing nothing but depressing people and even causing hysteria in some. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something but I thought that these "dates" were formulated by other members' timelines. And when so many of them are abandoned or unkept, it greatly inflates our woes. Am I wrong?

I remember a post by Captain Ewok which said that the calculations of the date between NOA1 and NOA2 only included those cases where both dates had been entered and so abandoned timelines did not enter into the equation.

------------------------------------------------

It does not affect it. We ignore partial entries and only calculate dates when both the start and end date in the calculation are present. Partial entries do not affect the statistics either.

My impression is that VJ bases its projections on reported events, not on how long members who have not reported anything have been waiting. So if the average waiting time for members who have recently received approval from VSC is 90 days, then 90 days is used to project future approvals. The member who appears to have been waiting 180 days because they never updated their timeline does not seem to be factored in.

I cannot promise you this is how it is done but I do know that the average waiting time reported in the VJ timeline section is only updated when there is an approval reported.

I have researched VSC approval times for the past year and it is obvious to me that the pace of approvals has slowed. I do not think that abandoned timelines is the problem because there are likely to be non reporters from every month.

It just means your case was touched. They don't email you every time they touch your file, just when you are approved, or if you (God forbid) are issued an RFE. With the backlog it wouldn't surprise me if they are working weekends!

Thanks Chris - If I may ask, how did you get to figure that out, about that date being the oldest?

i seem to recall it either from a post here or from a post on asawa.org along time back. ive been lurking on these boards for 3 years. Someone had posted that the date was the oldest one currently being worked on, not the latest. right now that are approving petitions from feb, march and april daily so Jan 13th cant be the latest date. and it seems static, so i feel confident the original poster was correct.

RFE's (request for evidence) slow a petition down. sometimes indefinately. there are people who get one and dont respond with what USCIS needs so the petition sits.
