No I understand - you're kinda done with the excitement - if you let yourself hope too much then you'll wind up disappointed so you don't bother getting your hopes up. But that in turn kinda dampens your spirit so you just go through the motions of day to day life without really living *hugs*

Stupid question but have you contacted your congressman? It prolly wouldn't seem so bad if you actually knew what the hell they were doing - but extended review seems to be this kinda vague thing that no-one really knows anything about... :(

Just dug this up... dunno if it would work but it might be worth a shot:

Linky

There is an e-mail link there as well... you can request help...

Heh - on the site it also says this:

Thank you for your interest in emailing Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is only through open communication that we can continue to make government more efficient and helpful to the people of California.

Might be worth using some of the buzz words they use so you can kinda throw it in their face

The governor only deals with state laws/issues/offices and not federal agencies. She would need to contact Barbara Boxer or Dianne Feinstein if Jeremy is a Ca resident. I hear that Barbara Boxer is pretty good.

Heh - yeah we tried sending a letter to her and never heard anything back - all I get now is political spam in my inbox... great(!)

Would it not be a concern of the governor as the service centre is in his State?

Unfortunately not. The lines between State and Federal are pretty thick. Well, at least one way. The Federal government *loves* to intrude on State issues, but the States are rarely able to intrude on Federal issues. In this matter a Senator or Representative is going to have much more power than the Governor.

Hi Guys,

I posted this in the UK forum as well, but wanted to say hit to my July filer friends! I have been quiet for a the last little while getting ready for all the big changes and the big move and now we are having a snow day (I am a teacher) and I am at home restless and so excited!!! Matthew is doing his last minute packing, having a last dinner with his parents (although they will be here in 2 weeks for the wedding!) and getting ready to leave to move to me and his new home....and new dog! I can't believe it.....I have dreampt of this for soooooo long and its finally here! somebody pinch me! His flight leaves heathrow tomorrow at 2PM and he has a direct flight arriving in Seattle at 3:50PM. think the next 30 hours will be the longest hours ever!

Anyway, just needed to celebrate outloud as I am just sitting here full of energy and trapped at home! Thanks to everyone and this site for all the help and support. I wish everyone speedy and issue-free journeys! no doubt we will be very active again when we file AOS in a few weeks!

to everyone still waiting, I know this is the hardest thing ever, but please keep the faith! it WILL happen and you WILL be together with your loved ones. Just keep coming back to VJ for support. During the process I tried to calm myself with thinking about 5, 10, 20 years from now when the months we spent apart and all the immigration stress will feel like a blip (hopefully!!!). although I get a proper laugh when I think about our first conversations about his moving here back in May/June of last year and I was wanting him to move by august, but he felt like he should wait until the end of sept. to save up some more money before he moved!!!! THEN we filed the visa.......we had no idea what it would take and the memories of those first little naive conversations always makes me laugh!

Cheers,

Sara

Actually I already did contact my congressman who has a reputation for getting involved and helping people with immigration issues (I know someone personally that he was able to help get the process going). Unfortunately they told him the same thing...extended review. I've said it before I think that I believe extended review has to do with the name check stage. I read it somewhere on VJ that's what it means and also the last time I called USCIS the guy said it was in name checks and would next to go an adjucator. The thing is, how freakin long can a name check take ffs?

Thanks you guys for the kind words and trying to help. I do appreciate it.

Holy cow, you're lucky. You got your NOA1 the same exact day as me and your fiance is coming to you NOW??!! Congratulations  .

I have some of those same type of naive memories. We had planned on being married last July (after some very bad misinformation from USCIS & border officers & well meaning friends) before we learned what the process was. I think that makes this whole thing that much harder to have had those plans ripped out from under us.

I'm very excited for you..I can't even begin to imagine how happy you must be right now.

Sara!!! I am soooo excited for you!! Make sure you pop your head round the door of our new home!!! We can keep in touch through the AOS thing as well then - seems to be just as long-winded and complicated as the K-1 but at least we will be able to go through it with our OHs!! :D

I have heard if your fiance has a common name and someone else has it also with a criminal record or something it can take awhile for the name check. If there is a waiting list then your file might be sitting on someones desk and not even gotten to yet.

Back in 06 in the US when i would fly domestically for my job, my name would register a hit and extra security because someone had my name and they were on a no fly list or wanted somewhere or something. So everytime i had to fly they would send me to a supervisor and take all my ids, and make me wait while they did checks on me. sometimes i would get close to missing my plane. Of course they always came back and said sorry for the delay, i wasnt who the one on the list, and then i would make my plane. but for a while it was nuts.

I can imagine that magnified with the immigration process. Having said that, i hope they get off their butts and approve you guys. I cant imagine still waiting on the NOA2 for july filers. Its beyond stupid.

Good Luck guys. Hang in there, in the end it will be worth it.

Chris

My first, middle AND last names are ALL common but are they checking me (USC)? Or are they checking him? Why would the FBI check the foreign fiance? And then why does the embassy do that later too? I just don't get it. I was assuming the name check now was on me the petitioner and the embassy checks the fiance since they're based in their country. ?

When I proposed to Bella exactly one year ago today I told her the entire process would take 3 months. I know it sounds crazy now but that is how long it was taking for Colombia filers going through VSC back then. Luckily she does not beat me up too often about my slight miscalculation. :bonk:

The good news is we learned today that our interview is Feburary 29th. :) Suddenly it is dawning on me that if all goes well in a month or so I am going from a family of 1 to a family of 4. I am looking forward to it but Yikes!
