You are better off calling the DOS as they are easier to get through to! They have the same info as NVC.

I called NVC yesterday and got through, they do not have our packet yet...sigh. But this process will not take forever! Congrats to all new approvees, and well wishes to all!

I've taken a holiday for a bit from VJ (actually I've been busy as can be with Christmas, travelling and entertaining...boy i'm TIRED!). I hope everyone has had a lovely holiday week!

Well Jeremy tried calling NVC yesterday and got a message to call back after 6pm EST because all operators were busy - grr!!!

I got the same message when I would call. It's incredibly annoying, but you just have to keep calling. It usually took 3 tries and then I would get through to the next message which is "you will have to wait for no more than 5 minutes before speaking to an operator...blah, blah". The best part was I got to hear that message at least 10 times in both English and Spanish. I did however get to speak to somebody and both times I called they were very helpful and much nicer than the folks at CSC. Good luck!!

I just tried calling and was told they are closed, to call back between 8:30am and 5pm Monday - Friday except Federal Holidays.... Since when is Jan 2nd a Federal Holiday?

LMAO - maybe Scotland has taken over DOS?!?!?

Also I wondered if there was a checklist of things to do before moving country - there must be something somewhere but I haven't really looked yet - I keep getting bank statements and mentally reminding myself to just get one annual statement when I move as I want to keep an account here!! There must be countless other things to be sorted out and figured someone must have made a list!!

i've just gone through my bank statements to work out what DD's I have. My to do list is...

cancel contact lenses,

cancel mobile phone,

notify DVLA,

notify inland revenue,

close savings account (only wee bit in it),

close my old business account,

gather together all my education certificates,

set up interchange account,

transfer chunk of money to nick in next couple of weeks,

not closing bank account until over there as they then send my balance in a $ bank draft

did car insurance today as my car goes to new owner on friday.

I know!! Isn't it exciting?! All the more reason for me to delay sending in my packet 3 if necessary!! Did anyone think they would ever hear someone say that?!
