West coast scotland cold too.....I had ice INSIDE my car this morning.

I live at the bottom of a river valley and the icy mist is so thick you can only see about 2 meters in front of you. Also my car is rear wheel drive so when it's icy it tends to favour going sideways!!!

For those of us who were recently approved and sent to NVC bound for Manila, Philippines

I found this package on DHL 9341422716

From

U.S DEPARTMENT OF STATE

To

Manila, Philippines, The

Shipment information

Ship date: 12/19/2007

Pieces: 1

Total weight: 23 lbs

Sofar its the only one I found going to the Philippines on that date.

They confirmed my pakage was sent on the 19th this morning, and I know I did not compile 23 lbs of documents. So, I think they bundled ours in a box and sent them out the door.

CBR, I'm really sorry things aren't going well. Its high time you RFE trick this thing again.

I've been off dealing with some relationship problems (no doubt aided by this longgg delay) but am happy to say that she is fighting for it after a period of seeming to drift away.

I just checked online again for the 10th time today and we are approved. Wish I could be excited but I'm not due to the 158 @#%$&*! days it took. thanks for nothing CSC please get my app out of your incompetent hands soon.

Congrats DKM. I'm sure you will feel the excitement after the news has sunk in. It is hard waiting during a process where there is no certainty of when you will hear anything. I think everyone feels despondent at some point or other. Hopefully the next part of your K1 journey will run more smoothly and you will be reunited soon.

Congrats to other recent approvals and best of luck to those still waiting. :)

Oh - some questions!! Obviously now with NOA2 in hand (at least electronically) we are moving forward... Do we need to phone NVC to find out if the file has arrived there? Or do we need to call CSC? Is there a kinda step-by-step procedure (with phone numbers and questions to ask) of who to nag and when?! Would be nice to have something a little more concrete now I have given up refreshing the USCIS page  Lemme see if I can guess and perhaps some kind people can fill in the blanks?!

Rec NOA2

Get NOA2 hard copy

When should we call NVC? Number? What to ask? Do we get a case number?

How often should we call NVC? Why would we need to call DOS? How do we know when our file has left NVC?

Do we need to call the embassy to see if the file has been received? When should we book the medical?

You kinda get the idea... ;)

i called NVC. of course we werent there yet. the person i spoke with said its 2 to 4 weeks for them to get the petition. however i felt they were helpful. i am hoping since we our notice date is 12/12 that we made it on the pallet with the end of NOV and will be at NVC quickly, instead of sitting there until Jan 12th and then being sent.

Congrat's.... that is fantastic. I'm so glad that you did get yours b/4 we got ours. I'd feel really bad if we got our b/4 you.

Okay all this talk about approvals has gotten me thinking... Is NOA2 just the first hurdle? What I mean is once you get the "approval" what are the chances that later down the line (NVC, foreign office, interview etc) the application might get rejected?

I mean I know that after the interview one could be denied but who else has a say in this? What does the NVC actually "do"

Our Visa Journey

07/29/07 ---- Mailed I-129F

08/25/07 --- Check finally cashed (8/27 I should be able to see the R number on the back).

08/27/07 --- NOA1 Arrives from CSC and I create my account profile on the USCIS.Gov web-site (the clock starts)!!!

02/05/08 --- After 191 days NOA2 (Approval) comes at last!!!!

2/14/08 --- NVC sends letter saying that it's on the way to the US Embassy in Bangkok

2/25/08 --- She receives Packet 3 from the Embassy

3/29/08 --- She receives Packet 4 with interview date (July 11th).

3/30/08 --- I e-mail the Embassy asking to make the date earlier because I've already got our tickets for June 13th!!!

5/6/08 --- No help from the Embassy. Rebooked tickets and vacation till September.

5/21/08 --- Embassy calls her and moves interview to May 27th!!!!! You have got to be kidding me!!!

9/21/08 --- POE San Francisco!!!!

12/8/08 --- Married!!!!

12/15/08 --- Mail AOS + AP + EAD package to Chicago

12/28/08 --- Come back from vacation and find AOS/AP/EAD NOA 1 and Bio App notices in the mailbox!!!

1/13/09 --- Bio Appt

4/22/09 --- AOS Interview "APPROVED"!!!

3/04/2011 --- OUR BABY IS BORN... We have a son!!!!!

3/10/2011 --- Mail I-751 application to lift conditions on residency

3/12/2011 --- I-751 Package received by CSC

3/14/2011 --- NOA 1

3/21/2011 --- NOA 2 (Biometrics Appt 4/18/2011)

5/27/2011 --- ROC Approved. 10 Year Green Card arrived 6/04/2011

haha well heres my take on the matter...they do checks at each stage, but very few people get held up at the nvc...they do perform security checks (names checks and such) though

basically, if you do everything correctly (pay the fee, sign all the forms, provide sufficient evidence, provide the proper documentation), you will not get denied at the service center (vsc, csc)...you are almost guaranteed an approval, at some point, as long as you file correctly...of course they can give you rfe(s), but if you do what they say, you will eventually get approved

then the packet goes to nvc, they basically enter the name(s) into the system, do some name checks and send it on its merry way

then comes the embassy...the embassy interview, in my opinion, is the most likely time that one will be denied...they can either approve your case, request more evidence, or deny your case...i think that the embassy interview is the scariest, because its very subjective, and they can deny your case if they feel the relationship is not bonafide, even if it is!! oy vey

Removal of Conditions NOA: 2/24/11

Biometrics Appt: 8/15/11

Card Received: 10/15/11
