Gretchen cant wait to change her name. She loves her last name but she is looking forward to having my last name. she will take her last name as her middle name and lose her current middle name which she doesnt like anyway. So that worked out really well. best of both worlds.

Chris

Ah yes this is the traditional Filipino way, as a nice coincidence Lonesa and I will have great monogrammed towels with LLT and JJT after we get married ;)

Here's a random question which will probably add to the wedding discussion: How many of you ladies will change your last names when you marry? I'm still debating whether to do this since I'm still in school. Everything is under my maiden name, and when I take the boards (in 2-years Lord willing) it'll have the info my school gives them, therefore my Pharmacy Lic will have my maiden name and so will my PharmD degree.. My fiance says that I don't have to change it because he knows it will be a hassle changing everything.

I like his last name but at the same time i keep thinking: "i will graduate as a Dr and that is something that I accomplished, me, no one else"......it sounds selfish i know but think of it.......I've sacrficed approx 6 yrs of my life so I can get a degree, don't i owe it to myself to use my last name with a prefix before it? and my fiance also understands my point of view, which is why he says there's no need to change my last name b/c he knows it's a huge accomplishment in my life (what can i say he understands me at all levels :)) but at the same time, i want to show that I'm happy and proud that I'm married to him by using his last name. (so you all see my dilemma here)

Anyways I can always hyphenate it but my name will be too dang long, my first name is 8 letters, my last name is 10 and I use my middle initial, imagine adding 8 more letters to my last name!!

So the qestion still stands: how many of you will change or hyphenate your last names?

My Natasha plans on taking my name. I told her the decision was hers, but as she still has the name of her former husband (a name she does not like) she was very quick to say she would be pleased to have my name!

There was never any question - I am going to be taking my OH's last name and my last name will be gone - I have two brothers to carry that name on :) My OH was originally considering going back to his mom's maiden name though... which is McPheeters... Apologies if I offend anyone who has this name or knows anyone with this name but... it just... isn't me ;)

My current last name is Fox and I think that would sound a little... big headed... for a middle name!!!

When I get married, I want to take his name but I already use my maiden name and my ex-husband's name together. I would like to keep the same name as my kids because they are young so I guess I will hypenate my ex-husband's name with my new husband's name. Sounds very confusing...

My kids were concerned about not having the same last name as me - they are 12, 9 & 8 - I explained to them that no matter what my last name is I will always be their mother. I also showed them their birth certificates where it lists my maiden name to further illustrate my point. They are OK with my decision. And eventually, we hope to have my fiaance adopt the kids so we could all have the same last name. Personally, I cannot wait to rid myself of my ex's last name. I love my kids, but want to put my former marriage in the past!

Really?? Seems like they are still approving at a good pace. Keep in mind that petitions sent to TSC and NSC (up until 7/30/07) are processed by CSC. So a TSC or NSC approval = CSC approval! When you look at it that way, you will see quite a few approvals!

Since we're talking about name changing, Amy has said she has zero problem taking my name. I think it will probably mildly irritate her parents I mean, she's an only child and the family name there doesn't exactly have a whole lot of others to carry it on.

My family's name, however, looks to be in pretty good standing.

She'll go from being an A.M. to an A.J. like myself, hehe. Well, my legal name anyway is A.J. but I don't go by it (Andrew) anymore. I go by Drew now, haha :P

Don't stress too hard, the leading edge of approvals is in the mid June filers now. If you would have told me a month ago that mid June would see approvals by the end of October I would have been pretty happy!

Visa took too long, grew apart and withdrew visa after six months.
