In such a situation I would I suggest a strategy of asking them daily to hand over the terrorists.

No one knew Kafeel was a terrorist until he failed to blow himself (and others) up. No government, if served with that ultimatum, would know to hand over Kafeel.

That strategy is nonsense - we're not talking about a well-organized uniformed militia here.

That's one of the problems of going face-to-face with these groups. They are not brave enough to stand out in front showing who they are. They have no honor. All they have is a belief of what they're trying to accomplish. Innocent lives mean nothing to them.

Exactly. I had respect for the Muslim warriors back in the midevil days who stood up and battled like men, in the open. Whereas this filth not only targets women and children but runs and hides between them, after carring out an atrocity. They fly planes full of women and children, moms and dads and granddaughters into buildings filled with other innocent people and call themselves Islamic warriors. Screw the Geneva convention. They have no respect for it or humanity so why should we show them any respect and have to have our hands tied behind our backs while fighting guerrilla / militia warfare.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Well lets see here, Iraq as a state stood against the US, were obliterated in a matter of weeks. That didn't works so well.

Others using gurilla strategies have tied us up for years and will continue to do so as long we keep pouring money into Iraq.

There is not much honor in war, on both sides.

Hate to break it to you, but the medieval era is full of incidents of Muslim, Christian, and other raiders going into villages in the dead of night and looting, killing, burning and raping. Don't romanticize that era, it was pretty crappy.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

I say Bush really screwed up after 9/11. The window of opportunity was there and because of all the "politically correctness", we did not awaken the mighty giant that stopped Japanese army and bring WWII to end. It was 2 bombs. They are the mighty giants that truly should have risen. I know them actually seeing first hand what this atomic force is capable of, would've sent them back to the caves. ;)

Shame that a good few hundred thousand 'peasants' would go up in smoke too, and that an already destitute population would be reduced to a state presumably worse than their lot under the Taliban.

Dropping the 'bomb' is about rather more than Political Correctness. But that's just my take.

There's a reason why noone has done it since WW2 and it has rather more to do with international stability. Dropping a bomb right next door to Russia and China would be f**king stupid if you ask me - and the fact that noone has suggests that international relations are rather more complicated than you seem to credit.

So what do you do when someone insists on killing you and does not want any diplomacy? only your death...

So, what do we do now?

Take the advice that an expert panel has given the blockheads at 1600 Penn Ave over half a year ago and start developing the immediate and mid-term steps along that advice. Force this idiot President of ours out of the fcuking disaster he has gotten this country into with his stubborn ignorance. Iraq is lost. It has been lost for the past 4 years. Time we face that reality: When you're in the hole trying to get out, the most important thing is to stop digging.

Major battles where in the open.

That was then this is now. What excuse to people like educated doctors have to plan and carry out killings?

Really... Are we romanticizing the middle ages now?

More than that Infidel seems to be reminiscing over it as if he were actually there. Cept that he would have been a few thousand years too early ;)

No, George, it was lost the minute you went in not knowing what you're doing.

Remember the first order of the day: Stop digging.

 What a babe in the woods you are!! Do you really think we can make nice and these terrorists will just say "Oh, thank you. Now we can be friends!" We were not in Iraq when 9/11 happend. They want us dead. No negotiations will solve that. The only way to be safe is to take the fight to them.

Your probably going to get your wish. If Clinton or Oboma win the white house and the dem cowards in congress hold their power they will try just what you are wanting. One of two things will happen. We will get smacked again and again here in the USA or we will become their b!tches. When your wife is covered from head to toe, can't work or drive and you are forced to convert to their god awfull brand of Islam then you will remember this conversation. But by then it will be to late.

Anyone who laughs at what you are suggesting should read up on history as well as have a look at the direct comments from Al Qaeda.

Sure and entire cities were sacked, looted and burned. Julius Caesar for example, purportedly killed 12 million people in Gaul.

Amazing you have the cheek to say that after your "5,000 years" comment

the islamic extremist are waging jihad. the biggest problem is this really boils down to a religious war, being fought globally. and faith is the 1 thing noone can question, and most people are the most passionate about. the islamic extremist hate anyone who isn't islamic, and somehow twist the islamic religion into a justification to kill anyone who doesn't have the same belief as them. i don't understand it anyway.

i don't think we can ever leave iraq: we break it we own it. Colin Powell i'm sure you've all seen this- http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17722026

the world is is in a bad way & i think its going to get worse. i don't think admitting defeat & coming home is in anyone's best intrest. if we're not going to fight this war over seas, we're going to fight it in the US. i don't think anyone wants to see that. this war has been going on for centuries on 9/11 it finally reached US shores.

Don't give people a reason to support or join one of those groups. Which means to stop meddling in the middle east as well as forcing Israel to make peace with its neighbors. There are other things we can do as well to counteract the resentment many people have to the US. But it will take years and well, doesn't make our friends at Haliburton and Blackwater much money. Press releases and propaganda don't work, but improving the lives of many people in the middle east will. Improving their lives, doesn't mean leaving their country in a state of perpetual violence.

Al Queda won't automatically disappear, but it will fade as its popular support fades. Without a supply of recruits and money, it wont be able to continue its goals.

Al Queda is fueled by their interpretation of Islam. This is not some liberal bandwagon equivalent rights issue which will simply fade away. The Middle east has been at war for over 5,000 years.

Do you believe that if we cut all ties to the middle east, Sealed it off from travel and removed Israel that they would all be peaceful there???
