After 9/11, we should've dropped a nuke right on the Al-Qeda and Taliban training camps in Afghanistan. And dropped a 2nd one to reassure terrorists, and training camps alike, the US retaliation is ABSOLUTELY UNMISTAKEABLE. It worked in WWII, it would've worked again and cut out all this bullchit our troops are having to deal with on the ground there.

I was saying the same thing the other day.

Let them nuke one or more of of our major cities. Then we can fight back with everything we have. In such a situation I would I suggest a strategy of asking them daily to hand over the terrorists. If the fail to comply we nuke a city in those regions. We play the same game every day until they hand over the terrorists or we run out of land to bomb.

Great minds think alike! I think 2 bombs would've sufficed though ;)

No one knew Kafeel was a terrorist until he failed to blow himself (and others) up. No government, if served with that ultimatum, would know to hand over Kafeel.

That strategy is nonsense - we're not talking about a well-organized uniformed militia here.

I think some westerners think its pretty dumb to believe that a widespread ideology can be eradicated with military force.

Unfortunately the violence and intimidation, through terror, is the only language they understand.

That has not changed in over 5,000 years.

Islam has only existed for about 1200-1300 years. While some of the extreme Islamic groups have existed for quite some time, in one form or another, they have mostly existed on the fringes. But its only been in recent years, that they have gained a lot of popular support for their movement.

We know how to get the job down rather than pussyfoot around. We are trying to save civilian's lives while the terrorists are trying to kill as many people as they can; then throw the blame on us.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Nah, I am waiting to see what those that say there is no terrorist threat will say.

Well, seems that a trillion dollars and an additional three and a half thousand lost American lives later, we're right back to square one.

What an accomplished strategery.

What do you expect? Kill over 100,000 innocent people with bombs and whatever else. Think there might be people pissed off at the US?

The US is not responsible for the daily bombings of civilians. The day the army advises its soldiers to go and blow themselves up and deliberately kill women and children then we can talk about it.

This pro 60's attitude never seizes to amaze me where the perpetrators are given a free ride while anyone fighting for the innocent is always at fault. These terrorist must be thinking ###### westerners are dumb.

The Islamo-facists believe they can wipe out a widespread ideology (that of Western Civilization) through terrorism. I'll grant Iraq is a mess, and Al Queda is regaining strength. So, what do we do now? How do we stop those who want us dead, and aren't interested in diplomacy?

Contain them within their own lands and starve them.

Don't buy anything from them so they can't afford to buy anything from us.

That's one of the problems of going face-to-face with these groups. They are not brave enough to stand out in front showing who they are. They have no honor. All they have is a belief of what they're trying to accomplish. Innocent lives mean nothing to them.

Right, so how do you go to a government there and say "hand over the terrorists"? You don't. No one knows who they are until they do something.

Then we are losers. Because that's where the enemy is and has been all along. The Talib were just muscle, the brains of it all has always been within the "intelligence agencies" and their military allies within Pakistan.

Hey I am all for it but the liberals of this nation would start to cry again. And blame it on oil or some other #######. They seem to believe live concerts, gay rights and light globes are going to change and save the world.

I say Bush really screwed up after 9/11. The window of opportunity was there and because of all the "politically correctness", we did not awaken the mighty giant that stopped Japanese army and bring WWII to end. It was 2 bombs. They are the mighty giants that truly should have risen. I know them actually seeing first hand what this atomic force is capable of, would've sent them back to the caves. ;)

Don't give people a reason to support or join one of those groups. Which means to stop meddling in the middle east as well as forcing Israel to make peace with its neighbors. There are other things we can do as well to counteract the resentment many people have to the US. But it will take years and well, doesn't make our friends at Haliburton and Blackwater much money. Press releases and propaganda don't work, but improving the lives of many people in the middle east will. Improving their lives, doesn't mean leaving their country in a state of perpetual violence.

Al Queda won't automatically disappear, but it will fade as its popular support fades. Without a supply of recruits and money, it wont be able to continue its goals.

I don't believe western ideology & civilization can be eradicated purely by terrorism. What happens is that we do that ourselves (through curtailing our valued freedoms in the name of greater security).

There is (has to be) a place for military action - just not of the unilateral variety.

Don't have to do much blaming when they say so themselves.

Japan's a small island. The Islamic world is huge. HUGE. Where would you drop your bombs? Pick any two locations you want and there will be swaths of land that are completely unaffected, overpopulated with angry bored frustrated young men who just need a reason to go boom.

There are some people that were in the London subways that would be willing to show you that your claim hasn't happened. There have been many more failed plots both in the US and the UK. So, whats this about another 9/11 not happening? There are very likely plans in the works for another event like 9/11. Fuel by the anger of our activities in Iraq. So. your argument makes no sense. We spent 400 billion, there are still and have been more plots against the US and Britain.

Calling these people terrorists makes it really easy to forget how much of a hand we had in creating the situation we are dealing with today. We have generated the anger that many people have against us. This is a situation we created as much as it was forced upon us. But how easily we forget history, blame everything on them.

Any extremist group, wether Islamic, Christian, political or otherwise, needs 2 things to stay in power and be effective. Support of the people, and resources. You take away the support of the people by righting the wrongs, or addressing their concerns, the group withers away. They don't have support, which in turn limits the resources, and well, not much you can do anymore.

So by killing innocent civilians, unilaterally supporting Israel, supporting coups against governments we don't like (even if democratically elected). Do these people end up with love for the US? Not likely. While many people in a normal situation would feel no need to support Islamic extremism, they do because no one else will oppose the US. By using only military solution, we are only giving the people more reason to oppose the US and more money and power to the groups that do.

And you say this is working? How?

 What a babe in the woods you are!! Do you really think we can make nice and these terrorists will just say "Oh, thank you. Now we can be friends!" We were not in Iraq when 9/11 happend. They want us dead. No negotiations will solve that. The only way to be safe is to take the fight to them.

Your probably going to get your wish. If Clinton or Oboma win the white house and the dem cowards in congress hold their power they will try just what you are wanting. One of two things will happen. We will get smacked again and again here in the USA or we will become their b!tches. When your wife is covered from head to toe, can't work or drive and you are forced to convert to their god awfull brand of Islam then you will remember this conversation. But by then it will be to late.
