Well, I finally had my interview today at 1:30 pm in Chicago. We ended up being a little bit late because we got lost. Anyhow, we ended up having a very nice immigration officer assigned to our case. She basically asked me the standard questions if I'm a terrorist and so on. She had a very good sense of humor and made jokes about stuff so that made me feel pretty comfortable.

She went through my file checking all the documents and then I was asked for documents. She first asked for a copy of my marriage certificate, then my original birth certificate, and my passport. She removed the I-94 out of there immediately. She asked to see pictures, documents showing that I live at our address (I brought my school registration papers and my membership document stating that I am a member of the American Association for Medical Transcription). I also brought proof of our joint bank account and insurance benefits proving that I am on my husband's insurance policy. LOL, she asked me if I had my house key with me cause she wanted to compare it to my husband's and make sure I have my own house key. I did not have mine with me because I left my purse in the car (less hassle with security). My husband told her he could go get it out of the car but she said never mind, don't worry about it.

To sum it up, I did get approved but I do have an RFE for utility bills and a TB skin test. She told me that since that whole ordeal happened with that American man who traveled with TB from Europe, they now require the skin test. When I had my medical exam done in Germany, they only did the chest X-Ray and my medical did say I have no signs of TB.

So, I will mail her some utility bills and do my TB skin test to send to her and I'm all done for now.

Anyhow, I am approved and she told me I should have my GC by August 1st!

Congratualtions!!!

Question-Do our utility bills have to be in both our names? Wouldn't banking account and charge card information be sufficient?

No. In fact as I've said many times on here, the idea of joint utility bills is rather silly. I certainly didn't have any.

Wouldn't banking account and charge card information be sufficient?

Joint bank account is good evidence yes.

congrats Magnolia31!

Sorry to hear about the RFE but get them in quick and you will get your welcome letter shortly!

Thinking back on my interview and the RFE letter I got .... for the I693A and being told that I need the TB skin test.... my RFE only indicated the I-693A so thats all I did... I was firing questions of my own at the AO so might have confused her enough to forget that part.

Just received my welcome letter so all is good.

Note to any others going through Atlanta office.... they are up on the TB skin test so make sure you have it done before you go.

I 130 & I129F (K3) and AOS info in timeline

Sounds like rampant inconsistancy to me. The dr in London never mentioned the TB skin test to my fiance at all. I guess if we end up getting an AOS interview, we'll go to the civil surgeon here and get one done. Sheesh.

Me either. You know, we pay these civil surgeons and put faith in them to do what needs to be done. If my CS knew i would need a skin test, then he is wrong for not giving me one. My biggest gripe is that I feel when they received my I-485, they should have then sent me an RFE for the skin test - not at my interview.

My guess is that CS' and the overseas doctors have not been told that they need to do the skin tests. It sounds like this is all something that certain field offices have 'grabbed a hold of' and are running with.

I am from Europe too, basically in from the county next to yours. The officer did look at my medical, but didn't ask for the mantoux ( mantoo :P ) ( skin test).

I've done them quite a few times when I was working with African refugees in my country and everytime I was okay.

I did the X-ray for K-1 and even mentionbed the fact tyo the doctor, but I have never been asked for an update.

Congratulations on your approval.

Joint bank account is good evidence yes.

The words our AO used - when looking at our evidence - were 'co-mingling of assets'. So whatever proof you have which indicates that should be sufficient.

And now back to topic.........

Congrats to the OP!

I am confused, if one arrived in the US on a K-1 visa with the Vacc. Supplement to I-693 only submitted for AOS (and the full medical exam done by the panel physician back in the home country is still valid), what USCIS form then should be submitted to them, after/during the interview to show the TB skin test/mantoux..? Did the IO say which form exactly (the I-693, form for the full medical, has an item for that TB skin test, and not the I-693A or vacc. supplement), if not, then would just the test results be enough? Defeats the purpose of seeing the CS only if you can get cheaper means..hopefully someone can advice.

She told me utility bills had to be in both of our names. We had the paperwork for the joint account and stuff but she wanted more. She even asked to see our house keys but I left mine in my purse in the car. I think it all depends on the IO. Some want a lot of evidence, some accept less.

I find it silly too but the IO wants me to mail it in. I had so much other stuff that showed we live together but she still wanted those utility bills. She even asked for house keys LOL.

Really? That's so ridiculous. How on earth does it prove you're in a relationship? I showed real evidence, like joint lease, bank account and health insurance, you know, stuff that people actually have in both names. No normal couple in America has their Electricity bill in both their names, its ridiculous that they ask this.
