What is up with the almost child like behavior when a Filipina doesn't get her way or is upset about something trivial?

If I'm talking to my fiancée and she doesn't like something I've said or doesn't understand she will get quiet and not respond and either turn off her camera so I can't see her, ubruptly end the call or walk away phone leaving me to wonder where she's gone.

I've been dealing with it for almost three years now and its getting old. Especially because she's never apologetic about it and then blames me for her acting that way.

As with any type of childish tantrums, it's likely to continue as long as it is getting them the desired results.

Yep, another Filipina here. "Tampo" is just the local term for sulking / the silent treatment. Plenty of masters of tampo in every culture.

Do Filipinas tend to sulk instead of yell or argue directly? Yes, absolutely. In a culture that values social harmony and is highly non-confrontational, tampo is a common way to express displeasure. Both sexes do it. My father has been able to out-tampo pretty much anyone I know.

Is tampo infuriating? Of course it is. Is it uniquely Filipino? No.

Not arguing with you there. The question is how much and how long you're willing to put up with your partner's behavior.
