Is age difference an issue?

Hi everyone.

I(male) met my fiancée(female) in October 2019, she’s 20 years older than me and we met in January 2021, we filed K1 after the first visit and since then she have visited me 3 times which total of 4 times. Our petition have been approved, waiting for interview. I’d have followed spousal route if I knew about the red flag.

What are my chances, I’m scared.

That age difference is a red flag, but the best evidence you can provide is that of being together.  Multiple visits is the key for that at this point.  Good luck.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I have a lot of pictures together, mostly with my family. She wants to come again next month so we can have valentines together and I can’t wait.

It is a red flag for Nigeria, especially if she is beyond childbearing age, and also because if a US green card is removed from the situation, more than likely someone your age would not marry a local who is 20 years older......

She is not beyond childbearing age.

Okay.  Expect some scrutiny on the age difference for the second reason then......    If local men your age do not normally date women that much older, it may look like a green card marriage.

Yeah I understand. I’m ready for the scrutiny. After dating older women, you won’t be with a younger woman. She is matured and knows what she wants. 😍

So when did you actually meet? Just a word of advice. Every petition has a degree of scrutiny, but knowing that Nigeria has more than other countries, basic things like getting dates right is important. Could be typo or something else. While messing up on this forum is not a biggie; messing up on your forms could be bad. Make sure all forms are triple checked for correct info and whenever you interview to make sure what you say also matches what you write down. Best of luck on your journey.

We met in October 2019 but met physically(face time) on January 15th 2021. Trust me I know the dates and the time of everything. Thanks a lot.
