Hello, a friend of mine’s process, she got this letter after she sent some documents they requested. Does this mean the documents approved or she need another action?

thank you for your help!

That's an RFE. She must send what they're asking for.

And when posting images, conceal any personal information.

She sent documents and got this letter. I just wondered if uscis approved her documents or need other documents to send. Thank you for telling me about the personal information. I deleted it and hope it works

I guess the documents she sent were the initial I-485 filing for which she should have received a letter notifying they accepted her case submission.

If the documents she sent are a response for another RFE this would be a second one where they are requesting the beneficiary's birth certificate and its translation.

When did she send those documents you talk about?

But she sent the documents that is on the letter, her birth certificate and the translation. She sent it out last month soon after she got the initial RFE

Maybe they resent the letter by mistake.

What's her status online?

Yes it is weird because red and blue date stamps are there. The status online is “response to the USCIS’ request for evidence was received”.

Agreed the stamps are odd, as if they processed the RFE and sent the letter back to the applicant.

Unfortunately it is not uncommon for the USCIS to make this kind of mistake.

Maybe they were trying to notify her and save some paper? 🤪

I thought they sent her the letter to notice her that they’d approved  documents she sent, but I’ve never heard of that. If they sent it her by mistake, they might think she didn’t respond to the request and denied. We will call them next week.

I would for sure call and make sure to talk to a tier 2. It was probably a mistake to sent it out even tho it would be great if that was a new thing they do.

Right. Ahh we have to call like 2am here to talk to Tier2… I used to that when my application was denied. Anyway, we will call and make sure.

Help!!!  We called USCIS and the woman said we should have to send back those documents as it was, but they resent it again with other new stamps which says exactly same as the ones with recent date. I don't know what to do... but I want to ask what is "civil authority"? My friend needs to send her birth certificate with translation issued by CIVIL AUTHORITY. She sent out it issued by a Japanese translation service company when she applied for AOS but she got RFE. What is the "translation issued by CIVIL AUTHORITY"?
