Looking for a translator for documents in German

Hi everyone!

I need to translate my birth certificate and a name change document from german to english.

Which translators did you find in the UK that don't overcharge but are accepted by USCIS?

Ideally someone I wouldn't have to travel to, but I could send the documents via email and maybe get them back via mail?

Thank you in advance.

Anyone who is fluent in both languages can translate and certify a translation.  Just include the following statement with the English translation:

CERTIFICATE OF TRANSLATION

I, ___________________________, am competent to translate from ________________ into English, and certify that the translation of __________________________________ is true and accurate to the best of my abilities _____________________________ ______________________________

Signature of Translator

Name of Translator

Address of Translator ____________________________

Telephone Number of Translator

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

How do I become a certified translator UK?

In the UK, anyone can work as a translator – there is no system of certified or sworn translators as there is in many other countries. You simply have to register with a translation agency or find your own clients as a freelancer and start translating.

There is no such thing a a sworn translator in UK according to internet search

Hi, thank you for that. Does that include even myself or my family? Or do we have to proof any specific qualifications?

If so, is there a specific format the translation needs to follow?

@JeanneAdil: Thank you, does that mean I can use any translator as long as they affix the "certification" Crazy Cat posted?

Are there any german to english translators that you guys recommend?

Thank you :)

Yes.  No proof of qualifications needed.  Many people here have translated and certified their own documents.

Anyone fluent in both can do it.

No format. Just translate.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.
