@Allaboutwaiting

Case reopened on February 4! Didn't get any phone call, email or notices (yet), but I logged into my USCIS account and there it was. So relieved!

..but also I'm pretty sure the notice will deliver to the old address so I gotta obtain that somehow.

Congratulations! So happy for you.

Knew it would happen and you would not need to file anything again. Those phone calls and appointment paid off!

And unfortunately yes, it is likely that mail from USCIS will arrive to your old address. Is it possible for you to contact the current tenant or at least the landlord?

Sign up for USPS forwarding!

Also congratulations. You’re a warrior!

I signed up for USPS forwarding but I have heard it takes effect in a week or two. If a notice has already been mailed before I applied for forwarding, I don't think they would deliver to the new address? I made management of my older apartment complex aware of the situation and to please request the new residents to contact me and not to toss away any mail in our names.

If the letter is returned, you can try getting it at the local post office.

USCIS envelopes do not allow USPS to forward them. Most -if not all- envelopes indicate “Return Service Requested”, so they cannot be forwarded.

You said it yourself: that was a reminder not an official notification.

But it still was a USCIS envelope ☺️

How do you get them at the local post office? I'm assuming the mail carriers just deliver them at the old address anyway. Also, based on my experiences with government offices and several USPS locations, I doubt they'd help me with figuring this one out lol

We've had issues twice with mail that was either returned or not delivered. Once we went to our local distribution center to inquire and the other, we just called the office. Surprisingly they were pretty helpful.

I guess it depends on the office and the employee that you happen to talk to.
