I only mention DCF because someone brought that up in a previous, recent thread; I thought they were no longer possible?

Anyway, that's not really my question. I've been scanning through a couple of these threads and I'm under the impression that I, as the USC wife, must be in the United States when (beginning the process of) petitioning for my Dutch husband to enter the States so that we can continue building our life together.

I would really hate to use giant letters and abuse the caps lock, so this next sentence is going to be very understated:

Please tell me it's not so. D:!!!

Can everything for both of us be done and squared away while we are in the Netherlands? We have a joint-sponsor, my father who is employed and living in the States, so the process of proving financial support for him is (at least right now) organized. I can really think of no other reason, and nothing in the guides, that requires us to be separated. Why are so many K-3 applicants not seeing their spouses?

DCF is now available. There was a short time it was not. There is no such thing as a DCF K3. DCF results in an immigrant visa. See the DCF Guide for details.

One thing to note though, it's not exactly the same as it was before in some countries. I think they all more strict residency requirements now. For example, we had planned to do DCF in Ukraine originally because you just needed to be there in person at the US Embassy in Kyiv, but you didn't actually have to show proof of a long term residency. Now, they require proof that you have lived there at least 6 months.

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

Now that I knew what to look for, it was pretty easy to find the restrictions in NL. Same as Ukraine has, actually. Which won't be a problem at all, it's relieving to know we'll be able to get home and settled much sooner than we'd originally thought.

This topic could be moved, by the way, it's solved and considering the answer, prolly belongs in the DCF section XD

OH BUT. Thank you for your input. ^_^
