Is it possible to have interview first then medical? Interview date is January 25 but the next appointment for medical is January 26.

Yes.

You will get a 221g denial pending the arrival of medical exam to consulate.  Not a big deal, just a known delay.

I definitely recommend keeping both appointments.  Best of luck.

I’m going to be in the same situation in a week’s time.

Anyone have a sense of how long the medicals are taking to get the to embassy, and how long from them arriving they’ll touch the case again?

I don’t why the medicals are so hard to get since the holidays. It’s a new thing. Maybe short staffed with Covid cases and isolations? For a decade or more, medical appointments were easily available, even within the week you called.

Medicals can get sent to the embassy as soon as the bloodwork results they send out to a lab get returned. That would be about 3 days, but allow for an extra day if your exam was on a Thursday/Friday and the weekend delayed slightly.

The clinic could finish up the report (with bloodwork results) the same day and it goes over to the embassy digitally. So 3 days or more depending on when labs come back and when the clinic fills out their report, scans and sends.

The embassy doesn’t always pick up your report and approve the visa the same day the medical report arrives. Maybe allow up to 3 days (average this year) to get back to your case. Earlier this year they were super fast but right now we have the holidays backlog and a new highly infectious Covid variant throwing a spanner in the works. It’s a total guess how things will be when your turn comes up. Hopefully on the lower end of all the variables that come into play because everybody is well and the lab, clinic, and embassy are working with a full staff.

You need to have your medical before your interview. The embassy will not interview with an incomplete medical exam.

It really is up to you! Unless somebody here has experienced going to an interview without a medical completed recently that would be good to know!

If it doesn't work out you will just need to rebook your interview to later date after your medical. 👍
