@Rocio0010 I hear you on that. which is why to be honest with you guys, aside meeting with her family and vice versa, i wanted to use her visit here to size both of us up. to see if we are compatible together for the long path of marriage. if we are, then we file for the i-129f after she goes back. if not, then i take a step back.

I believe Ghana is a high fraud country. Is your partner willing to visit you in Ghana after the I-129F is filed? How long will the first visit be?

Lots of face to face visits are suggested for high fraud countries.

If you think this could be a real relationship, I suggest taking it slow (at least two visits). Maybe marry on the second visit and then file the I-13O or file I-129F after 2nd visit and make sure your partner visits after you file.

Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation.

K-1
    More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months)
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.
A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire

CR-1
    Less expensive than K-1
    No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required.
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.

Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Another advice that you probably won’t like, but here we go: a marriage is a commitment. It takes a lot of compromise, and it’s a lot of team work. I’m afraid that video chats do not give you the familiarity that you need to in order to know if she’s the one. What’s the rush in marrying so soon? Get to spend quality time together, while you gather evidence for your case. If you like each other and you both decide to make it work, then you’ll have the evidence to back up your case. And you get to know the person with their highs and lows. Win win.

Great advice!  I personally was in NO RUSH to get married when I first met my husband back in 2017.  We did a whole lot of video chatting, but most importantly, getting to know each other’s like’s, dislikes, past’s, and hope’s for a future together if we were to ever make it to the altar, for over a year prior to me moving to his country of Dakar Senegal, March 4, 2019.  By that time, I had decided that I did indeed wish to spend the rest of my life with him, and we were married a little over a month after my arrival there, and I didn’t begin the visa process right away, because the agreement was that I stay there a couple of years, to see how I liked his country before we would start the process. We stayed there for just a month shy of two years together, and I loved it there.  We have now been in the U.S. together a year this coming February 2, 2022.  Believe me when I say, we had tons of ACCEPTABLE EVIDENCE, starting from the time of our meeting, throughout our entire time together, by the time of our filing!  And the wonderful thing was, that we were able to take this entire journey together, then fly home, where we plan to live out our remaining day’s together, as a couple.

From my experience, the K1 visa is a waste of time and money. If you love each other and would like to marry in the future, I would plan a intimate wedding and take a lot of pictures during her trip, and get as much evidence as you can. Like others have said you will need a lot of evidence. So send cute emails/ whatsapp messages with places you would like to take her while in Ghana, wedding ideas and wedding vendors etc. - overall planning activities during her trip. All the best!
