MIL tourist visa approval

Hi all!

 

just wanted to see if anyone had a recent experience. Husbands mom wants to visit here in the US the problem I see is that she’s in her mid 50s house wife no work. We support his parents financially. Not substantially but enough. I’ve read on here that she would have a better chance if she was a senior citizen. Any recent experience? I also see that appointments are about a year out as well so I understand it will take some time.

The only way of finding out is to apply, not that expensive.

 

B visas are heavily backlogged I have seen some people get a quicker interview by watching for cancellations

Your MIL may have a better chance at getting approved because she is older but it is still not a guarantee. Evidence that she is financially dependent on you may or may not play against her. 

 

The only way to find out is apply and see. 

 

But for now, her approval is the least of your worries. Seems the Philippines is backlogged for visitor visa interview appointments until 2023. But that estimate may have changed.  She can apply now and hope something comes sooner.

I fail to see the advantage.  Give it a shot.  You have only the fee to lose.

Seconding that I do not see why her being a "senior citizen" makes it better. Is there some pension she is waiting to receive? I just don't think there's a big difference in this case between being in your 50's versus 60's unless she gets some financial advantage out of it.

I had my mom applied for the tourist visa in Dec and the interview is not until next year. I had to resched it a couple of times to get a sooner date which ended up in Jan. I agree with the others. We will only know if they will get approved if they applied.

 

A couple of friends had their parents applied. One of them has parents over 60 and they were both approved. One set of parents are over 50 and they were both denied.
