Hi Gurus,

Probably this has been asked before. I wondered how accurate is the time estimation in the USCIS MyCase website about N-400 processing.

It was showing 3 months left but then it was pushed back to 9 months suddenly last month. Is it possible that I got the interview invite letter for USCIS before

the estimated time?

Thanks

its a guess amit based on averages over a period of time and changes often

Our estimated time was 22 1/2 months but was 1 day under 1 year from date of filing to oath

Thanks! huge difference between estimated and real one in your case. It looks to me now it can come anytime.

Thanks,

This is a good news for us of course. So how do you know the day comes? Is that we will suddenly get a post mail from USCIS when we wake up in the morning? Or suddenly, I will see the magic interview date from myCase website? Or I will get a text message in my phone?

Thanks

Great, thank you.  I did it online. Does USCIS update the status only at the beginning of the month? Or it could be anytime?

Thanks

It could be at anytime, just so u don’t have to sign in all the time I recommend downloading the USCIS app and put in your case# and you can follow up that way as well.

No need to worry since they already scheduled you. Wish you luck on the interview and on the civics test.

If you look at my timeline below you’ll see that it can be way off. It’s more of a mean average overall for your field office and includes cases that are complicated. Most cases aren’t though. I was at 10 months when they scheduled my interview. I suppose it could still theoretically end up being 10 months, though, considering my naturalization journey isn’t actually over just yet.

Great post. Thanks for your sharing. It looks to me there was a period saying "actively reviewing". Probably I can take that as a sign when interview is approaching 🙂

BTW, congratulation and best wishes for your near-future interview

Thank you! And definitely, there was a period where they were actively reviewing my case. It was in that status for a few months (Oct 15 - Jan 6).
