@Allaboutwaiting thank you! But I was wondering how would I be able to check whether I passed the security check or not yet? It has been more than two months and no status change yet

Not sure what you mean "pass security checks."

Petitions for GCs are currently taking 1-2 years (AOS), at two months in, they haven't even begun adjudicating your case.

@Jorgedig well, dont they do security checks after taking biometrics? I heard FBI takes about a month to review the cases and give a clearance.

Do you mean, for your EAD/AP?  Those are taking around 8 months.

USCIS doesn't reveal the sequence of security checks throughout any of the processes, unfortunately.

you can do a FBI security check on yourself to see what may be on it

https://eforms.com/consent/background/fbi/

An FBI criminal background check form, otherwise known as ‘Form 1-783‘, allows an individual to obtain a certificate of their criminal history. This is common for federal jobs, appointments, and for adoption. The applicant will need to fill in Form 1-783 and bring 2 copies of Form FD-258 to a certified fingerprint location.

When I was waiting for my AOS back in 2016 - I had to get an infopass appointment as my case was outside of normal processing times, and the officer in the USCIS office told me that my home country took forever to respond to background check inquiry which resulted in case delay.

Whether that was true or not - I will never know.

Now I don't think you can request this information: it is either presented to you at officer's discretion or you simply have to continue waiting.

@.yana i just find it hard to believe that the FBI depends on other countries for background checks lol i think they have all the records around the world

Not really.  I hardly think any bureaucratic agency can have all the information on everybody all over the world.

I applied for AOS on Aug 5. Did biometrics on Oct 20. Havnt heard anything about my case after that or anything for EAD. Can Uscis rep tell me if I passed my security checks or where my case is right now?

If there’s nothing there, there’s nothing to worry about. They say the innocent fears nothing. Btw, you just applied in Aug 2021 and it takes 1-2 years for AOS these days.
