My wife and I sent our I-130 in on October 17, and we got our receipt a while later. We found we had been assigned to the Nebraska center.

Does anyone have info on how long the Nebraska center is taking these days? The site says 3.5-7 months, but I am too old to assume a government website's claims are related to reality.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thanks for highlighting that. So "NSC" is Nebraska. I am not familiar with all the abbreviations.

Our NOA1 is dated 10/17. Maybe we don't have to be in a rush to buy new luggage.

I have been looking at whatever information I can find. I have read that different countries get different treatment based on the government's desire to prevent a few nations from getting too many visas. Is that true? My wife is coming from Zambia.

According to other VJ member timeline entries, Nebraska is currently finishing I-130s with a submission date of 5/22/21.  If you fill in your VJ timeline, it will give you an estimate based on input from other VJ users.

No.

Marriage -based visas are not limited in numbers or countries.  The petition phase is only the first (and sometimes shortest) part of the process, and processing times vary by service center, but not country.  Later, with the NVC and consulate phase, there can be variations by country.
