Thanks for the Timeline Milan. That helps me out alot in figuring out my what my timeline may look like.

It seems that most of you ladies in this thread are going the CR1 route or are at least familiar with it. I am goin to be applying later this month (FINALLY), after our wedding in JA. Could you all tell me what items I should be sure to get from my, then husband, to make sure I bring back with me to the States. Like birth certificates, filled out forms, etc.

Also what should I be sure to bring with me during this visit that he may need to have or sign, fill out , etc. I just want to try to bring the things I need instead of mailing them to him later, or waiting for Snail Mail from Jamaica.

Thanks in advance

Hi Marlita,

I recommend you obtaining some forms from both the USCIS & Dept of State website. He will need to have the forms G-325A, DS-3032, DS-230 part I (signed) II (unsigned). You will need the following forms:

I-130 Packet:

G-325A (you should complete the form before hand and have him sign them - 4 pages)

DS-3032 (also have him sign this form even though you might submit via email)

DS-230 (have this form completed before hand as well and have him sign it)

Make sure the above forms are all signed by him but not dated. You will date them when the time is near.

For the I-130 packet you will need the his birth cert, the marriage cert, pics from the wedding, proof of bonafide marriage, and his divorce absolute if he's been previously married.

For the NVC stage you will need the police cert and the bio page of his passport. The bio page is also good to use to obtain his ITIN to file your taxes.

PS. I would have him wait to apply for the police cert since it's only valid for 6 months (or a year - not completely sure). Have him send it to you once your NVC case # is assigned.

Thanks so much guys! Nyseness, that info has helped alot. Now I know exactly what to make sure I bring with me for him to sign. JATam I will definitely bring extra copies! I didnt even think of that.

I feel like I have been waiting sooooo loooong to just get this ball on the road. I'm more excited about filling the Visa paperwork out rather than the wedding! LOL~! But I am still anticipating the wedding. I know its gonna be a dream come true.

Hi Milan,

No I haven't recv'd anything from NVC. It normally takes three days for me to recv mail but like I was saying before having the form "generated" or "sent" is 2 different things. For example, look at the postmarked date once you recv the package. Although the system says it was generated on the 23rd it won't be sent for another few days. NVC is an automated process which is done mostly by updating the systems. There used to be an adjudicator online and he answered a lot of our questions regarding the entire process. He was very helpful but I guess after a while he was bombarded w/tons of questions so he left the board (I assumed).

I cld this morning and was told my AOS fee has been recv'd and processed. I should receive the AOS packet w/in 2-4 wks. I asked the lady was it sent and she said it will be soon. Once I recv the IV Fee Bill I will let you know.
