Hey Guys I spoke with a rep this morning and was advised that my $380 Visa fee has been processed and updated. I just got off the phone with another rep who told me that my AOS was also processed and that I will get the Visa application packet between this week and next. I have all the documents to send back with the Visa application

Thats GREAT! It must feel so amazing to have the Final letter from NVC in your hands...Thats GREAT... I may just FAINT when I get my hubbys interview date!

I am so excited about our interview. I am just worried about when they will re-schedule the election. I was telling my husband and Jenice (USA-Jamaica) last night, that any day other than the 21st and 27th of September is fine with me

Canadian, US embassies suspend activities

The Canadian High Commission and the United States Embassy have suspended their services owing to Hurricane Dean.

According to a release from the Canadian High Commission, the immigration and visa section will be closed to the public until Monday, August 27.

The U.S. embassy said inter-views that were scheduled for the week of August 20 through the 24th would be rescheduled to a later date. The High Commission said applicants with new interview dates would be contacted.

"The consular section will remain open to assist Canadian Citizens from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday," said the release.

The High Commission said Canadian citizens who require emergency consular services after hours could call the High Com-mission at 926-1500.

Meanwhile, the U.S. embassy said its offices would be closed today.

There will be no visa interviews, or routine American Citizen services available, the embassy said. But emergency services for American citizens will continue to be available without interruption. American citizens with bona fide emergencies should call 702-6000.

The embassy said as soon as it was possible to do so, it would advise the public about the availability of consular service hours from Wednesday, August 22, onwards.

I still haven't heard from them but I have talked to my sister-in-law in Kingston. She said she spoke to them and everyone is ok. I feel much better. Thanks everyone.

they have no reason to be closed today. they have generators...and so many other businesses will be open. this is bull!

Playing devil's advocate - they are probably getting the systems back up and running today at the US embassy. As long as they are opened tomorrow, that would be good. I doubt they still plan on being closed on Aug 27th since there is no election, so hopefully all those who didn't have their interviews yesterday can get rescheduled then.

Any news on when your hubby can reschedule his medical? I am hoping that Aaron can try to call this week for an appointment.

I am trying to estimate completion Date now based on the Tam...I think it may be November interview, but will keep my fingers crossed.I only say that because I havent gotten the actual Visa application packet yet , and we all know how snail mail NVC is with the mail.

I read on their official website that people who have interviews this week will be rescheduled for late September. Very BACKWARDS!

A pipe dream, I suppose. We all know there is nothing logical about that place.

That is why they need to hire one of us to work at the embassy. We could snap that place into shape in just a few weeks time.

I didn't tell yall but of course even after I have been asking Mr. Man about his immunization card from last year...on Friday he couldn't find it and went to his family doctor. They said he had to pay $24,000 for all of the shots he needed

I was very disappointed to say the least but I didn't argue with him because he knows I was right as usual. Firstly if he hadn;t waited until the last minute he could have shopped around for places that did the vaccinations for cheap and secondly he could have gotten them one by one over the course of the last year.

What kind of man is this I'm going to share my life with? I'm so discouraged, I mean how is he going to be responsible for other things

I know he's young and all but sh!t man how could he be telling me for over a year that he his mother has his card put up and NOT make sure until the day before his medical. And I need not remind you that he scheduled that last minute (for yesterday) and we don't know when he's going to get that done under the circumstances.

I guess my plan for letting him deal with it alone and stop talking to him back-fired. But I was just hoping he would prove me wrong.
