The boy is 10 YO in Thailand. My wife's daughter has to work and the boy is home in the village. We have been married in the States for 8 years and would be happy to adopt the kid and bring him over here.

I've spent some time researching and not getting far. We know another couple here who tried adopting from Thailand and they told me it's very hard.

Any input would be great. Thanks very much - Tango

Adoption is generally off the table if one or both parents are alive, which is the case here. It also seems the mother is financially supporting him by working so I don’t see adoption as an option here.

Yeah, I'm over here now for a couple weeks. The suggestion to send them to International school is sounding like the best solution. Either Burriam (nearer to the village) or Chonburi (nearer to my wife's kids and civilization). Probably going to find a house to buy before inflation really takes off even though it will be a few years before we can move. Don't know if I mentioned it but there are two Sisters that we will also provide for, 5 and 7, so school for them too. We don't want their world to be village.
