I was wondering if this is new way of process?! Since it says on paper his documents are sent electronically but we also have a sealed envelope as well from embassy!! I also paid $220.00 for green card fee online before departure for U.S.

please educate me what are the next few steps to get his green card and ssn …

thank you…

You will need to wait for the SSN.  After 3 weeks you can contact your local SSA office and check about the status of the SSN card.

The green card takes up to 4 weeks, but I have read that the wait is up to 8 weeks nowadays.

Check your father's passport.  On the page opposite his visa there should be a stamp and someone's initials and a date.  This is the "endorsement" that turns the IR5 visa into a temporary I-551 -- temporary green card.

I think you mean months.  There are folks in the GC tracking thread who have been waiting or have waited for many months to get their plastic GC.

Thanks… how about not taking our physical sealed envelope  that we received from embassy on airport( arrival) or not doing any finger print?!!! Is this a new thing?!

If your father's immigrant visa has the annotation "IV DOCS IN CCD", that means his visa case files were transmitted to DHS electronically and no sealed package was required by CBP at the airport.  Whatever documents were given to him by the embassy are meant to be his personal copy.

Thanks you chancy… at the moment we are worried to open the sealed envelope… I assume skipping fingerprints in airport was for the same reason…

on subject of payment $220.00 , would you please educate me if this payment was necessary to pay in order to process his green card?! Is the right amount?!
thanks

The annotation would be printed on the visa itself.  Does the visa have the words "IV DOCS IN CCD" somewhere under the passport number?

As for fingerprinting at POE, that depends on the security measures available at the airport.  My POE was at DFW airport, where facial recognition technology is used at the immigration line.  No fingerprinting in my case too.

Yes, $220 is the right amount for the immigrant fee, which is required for green card production.

Do we need to make an appointment with local immigration office? Do another biometric?! Or just simply wait… we are not sure what to do…

Enter the IOE number of the receipt you got when you paid the $220 immigrant fee -- https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

Just wait.  If the GC is not delivered after 90 days, you may log a ticket for "Out of Normal Processing Time" -- https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayONPTForm.do?entryPoint=init&sroPageType=onpt
