completing N-400

My wife is going to file for citizenship under the 3-year Permanent Resident and Marriage to US citizen requirement.  The N-400 asks for all dates of travel outside the US over the last 5 years. She has only been in the US for 4 years.  Should she include the one year prior to entering the US when answering this question?  It seems like the time prior to her entry into the US is irrelevant and that the N-400 is written towards the 5-year permanent resident requirement but we don't want to screw up the application. Also, similarly, do they need information regarding residences and jobs prior to entry into the US?

Thanks.  Figured this question may have been asked before. Thanks for finding it. Of course, if would be helpful if USCIS addressed this in the instructions but that's too much to ask of them.
