Renewing Canadian Passport

Hello I was wondering if anyone has been in the same place as me.  My Canadian Passport expired just as Covid began.  I live in Michigan and I was planning a day trip to see if I could cross and renew my Passport.  I have an appointment at Passport Canada in Windsor.  They only do the Express Service if you have travel documents proving that you definite travel plans.  So I would have to go back in a few weeks to pick it up.  I am just worried that they will refuse me entry seeing as my Passport is expired.   I work in a hospital so I can not stay in Canada, with Covid being so bad.  Has anyone experienced this ?  Did you have problems crossing or coming back to the USA ?

You're a Canadian citizen.  You will not be denied entry. 

 

That said, why not just mail the application for a new passport? Applications are taking an average of 20 business days and even with the "foreign" application fee, it's still likely cheaper than traveling, risking catching covid and being stuck.
