Congratulations!! So exciting :) It seems like Los Angeles office is working non-stop.

I received my interview invitation in the mail (I'm also in LA) about a week after it was scheduled. Also, if you want to know your interview date sooner, you can chat with Emma on USCIS web site. Just ask for "live agent" and then select "green card" option.

Thank you! :)

Oh nice, that's good to know. I tried Emma chat yesterday but it was pretty standard responses. Glad to know i can request for a live agent, I might try that again. Sending good vibes and luck on your interview date!🍀🙏
Have you started medicals Form I-693?

I'm adjusting from K-1 (fiancee) visa so I completed my medical exam and all vaccinations before arriving to the US

Hello everyone! I don’t want to overwhelm you, but I did want to let you know that, if your marriage is less than two years old when your gc is approved, you’ll get a conditional one. Your GC will have an expiration date. You have to file for ROC 90 days prior to the expiration, and you have to present evidence of bona fide relationship. Therefore, start collecting evidence immediately after you’re approved. Make an envelope and start putting your evidence there -it makes the process so much easier!

Yes, but many people forget to collect evidence throughout the two years. As soon as I was approved for a green card, I made an envelope labeled “ROC evidence” and collected evidence that I thought was going to help, such as tax returns, State taxes, memberships, leases, deed, etc. Then, about one month before my ROC window opened, I started putting everything together. I just don’t like rushing the last minute.

Great stuff, is there a guideline you followed?

My wife has two job offers, she can start one immediately and one she can start in June.

But more importantly her father is diagnosed with a serious condition which has devastated her completely and she would like to visit him before it's too late. (Hopefully not)

We are also trying to get him here for a possible transplant but his doctor has refused to allow him to travel (he holds a visit visa and has traveled multiples times), it happened completely out of the blues.

Any help or input will be very highly appreciated.

PS: she just had her Biometrics done

  • Jan 26, 2021 = NOA 1 for I-129F (K1 Visa application)
  • Sep 8, 2021 = NOA 2 for I-129F (K1 Visa application)
  • Nov 16, 2021 =  K1 visa issued in Islamabad, Pakistan
  • Jan 20, 2022 = POE Dallas, Texas
  • Feb 14, 2022 = AOS (I-451, I-131, I765) Filed
  • Feb 20, 2022 = Receipt notice for all three received
  • March 21, 2022 = Biometrics in Dallas, Texas
  • August 9, 2022 = EAD (I-751 approved)
  • August 13, 2022 = EAD and SSN received (SSN applied with EAD)
  • September 6, 2022 = AP (I-131 approved)
  • September 13, 2022 = AP (I-131 receieved)
  • March 15, 2023 = I-485 approved (interview waived, New SSN received without DHS wording)
  • March 31, 2023 = GC in hand (Total time from NOA-1 to GC in hand 794 days)

Sorry to hear about your situation. I hope it all works out for you.

As for the guidelines I followed, just the typical ones that you can read about here and on other forums - get a job offer letter at the very least. I got a job offer letter, a letter from my future employer indicating that they would lose a significant amount of money if they couldn't hire me (due to the nature of my work but also things like the estimated expense of having to go through the hiring process again, having the position remain un-filled for longer, and so on... I had them extrapolate some of the costs out to the average current wait time for I-765 approval, which adds up quickly), and then I got in touch with my local Congressperson's office and followed their procedures for requesting that they make an expedite request - I made sure I had all of the evidence ready to go so it was as easy for them to submit the request as possible.

There's definitely some luck involved, some hard work involved, and just being really proactive about the entire process (I even managed to complete my biometrics before my appointment date by showing up at the ASC mentioned on my appointment letter and just talking them into letting me do it then and there - insert stereotype about Irish people and the gift of the gab here). All in all, I managed to get a job plus work and travel authorization within 90 days of arriving in the US, which is a lot faster than I thought I would be able to.

With regard to your wife's father - I think I-131s can be expedited due to family emergencies which require travel but I didn't go through that process so I can't shed any light on it for you. I've found the USCIS forum on Reddit very helpful for information, so maybe you could browse there.

01/14/22 - I-131, I-485, I-765 submitted

01/18/22 - NOA for all received

02/14/22 - Biometrics Appt for I-485 and I-765

02/28/22 - Expedite request submitted for I-765

03/22/22 - I-765 approved and combo card is being produced

03/26/22 - Combo Card received in mail

05/16/23 - I-485 interview

05/17/23 - I-485 approved

Just a question, Can I apply for a stated ID/DL before or it is done after? I've been reading around the forum but it seems like most posts about it are older, so just checking if anyone from January 2022 filers have requested for a State ID/DL while waiting? Thank you!

It depends on your state! Some will allow you to get certain types of DL. I believe Nevada won’t allow a Real ID without SSN, but we haven’t looked into it because my husband is a non driver.
