I'm new to this site so please bear with me and hopefully someone may be able to help/advise me......

Mid - May 2007 I completed the AR 11 online and via the customer services center, to update my change of address on my pending AOS application. My husband, being active duty air-force, was deployed to Korea for a 12 month tour and while he is deployed, I had planned to move in with his parents who live in Georgia. I received a notification dated May 17th from USCIS stating that my address for all pending applications had been updated.

I recently returned from a vacation home to Ireland and while I was gone I had received a letter from the local office in Louisanna which was sent to my old address and then forwarded to my new address in Georgia. The letter is dated June 6th and is scheduling me for an interview on July 16th (Monday!) in Louisanna. Because of the change of address and due to the fact that at this late stage, my husband will not be in a position to return for the scheduled interview on Monday, I am hoping to re-schedule the interview date - it is now July 11th and the interview is scheduled for July 16th, is it too late to reschedule?? I am worried that if they do not receive the re-scheduling request in time that my application will be in trouble. The letter states that if I fail to appear or respond " within 10 working days after the call in date, the application or petition will be deemed abandoned" - is the "call in date" the interview date?

If anybody out there could help me or advise me, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Mary

Make an infopass appointment at your new local office and ask for your case to be transfered to your new office and for a new appointment to be make....

OR

Go to the interview...... even if you have to go alone..... explain to the interviewer what you have told us here and they should be able to re-arrange for a new date.....

If you fail to make an infopass appointment or go to the interview you will get a letter of denial in the mail a few weeks later.... you would then have to start all over again with a new claim for AOS at the new increased fee.... there is no point in trying to call the 0800 mis-info line as they will not be able to help you with this.....

This has happened to others and they have had to refile and stop working as EAD is revoked when the denial letter is issued....

Good Luck

Thanks for the info - I really appreciate it, so stressful!! :(

I was in a similar situation. My wife is a flight attendant and she was not able to make it to our interview because flights were cancelled due to bad weather. I went to the interview all by myself and explained the situation the officer. We were re-scheduled within 1 month and I have obtained my GC.

Just make sure you explain to the officer also take your husband's deployment order with you so they can reschedule you to a time that will work for you.

Good luck

Thanks for the post, sounds like it all worked out for you, congrats!

I'm Irish so the whole military life-stlye is new to me!! My husband has been deployed for 12 months. He will have a mid-tour scheduled though and if not, he will be able to fly home for the interview if needed. Unfortunately with regards this interview notice and it being sent to the incorrect address and then forwarded, the time frame is too short for him to do so. The interview though is scheduled at my old local office in Louisanna which would probably take my 8/9 hours drive to get there and I would have to make that trip by myself - I am nervous to do so but from the posts I have read I guess it would be the best thing to do? God America is so big!! :(
