Hi!

I got to the US on a student visa, I met my fiancée and we got engaged recently. I’d like to travel with her to my home country in January. We do not have a date set for getting married yet.

Is it safe to travel with her?

On any entry into the US, an international student must have non-immigrant intent.

If CBP suspects that you might enter the US, marry, and adjust status, they can refuse entry.

There is no guarantee for you to get back into the US.

If you're concerned, do it the right way.

Looking this from a practical perspective.

You are going to be on separate lines for reentry. You have to answer the questions truthfully when you get back to the US. That doesn't mean giving your life story to the officer. The usual questions are what are you studying and stuff like that. If they ask why were you in your home country, the obvious reason is visiting family.

I never got asked much when I went from my home country back to the US on F1. I got asked more questions when I went from another country back to the US and it was stuff like "why were you there? where did the funds come from?"
