One more thing...Arab men are extremely jealous creatures....usually that jealousy comes out at the most unlikely of places...smile at the guy bagging your groceries and the fight could be on....mention a guys name that you ran into and had a chat with that day with and the fireworks might fly...seriously you never know what sets off the jealousy radar....and to make it even more rediculous...you are not allowed to be jealous of him because he is a man and can do as he pleases.....you probably think this a bitter ex speaking(and to some extent your right) but Im also speaking from the experience of other women speaking to me over a span of 20 years...always the same stories....always the same kind of beginning and same miserable outcome.

o.O

Gah, you talk about us like we're monsters. Maybe it's because I grew up in the USA. :)

Sure, I want some changes out of my wife. Let me list them:

- cook with olive oil instead of corn oil

- trim the fat off the chicken

- I cook the beef. The grill's mine.

- Wh00t! You've got to finish learning English anyways, why not just get a degree in English?

- Um ... you know, wear pants & boots. They're better for hiking. :P (She was a real sport in Petra ^_^ we made it to the monestary - even though I offered to literally carry her back down the mountain! :D )

I'd be skeptical of uber-jealous people. I was married to one. She was still seeing her boyfriend of 4 years ... for a year *after* she "married" me. (married = "opened a bank account".)

I could toss in a word about Arab guys who are drinking disrespectful hypocrites and all that, if you'd like. I know one - and I'm going to punch him next time I see 'em. :)

 Don't you mean olive oil instead of samneh baladiyeh?

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

I'm reminded of this thread today because I mentioned the kids thing and it brought up red flags for some.

Yeah, that would be something to avoid saying in front of a consular officer ... it's not - how can I say - culturally correct.

Although you'll be speaking to a US government employee - they know the local culture inside & out.

Think they'd understand though we just had a fight? Fights happen, people say stuff, feelings get hurt, tempers flare, then you calm down, re-evaluate, work it out or...don't.

But yeah for sure we wouldn't mention it in the interview cuz at the time we'd be not only nervous I bet but chatty and happy talking about two kids and their names...ect... LOL

 This forum is cracking me up the more I read. From farts to burps...my sides are hurting. My first visit to Kamel and 2 days after I had arrived I was getting out of bed and one slipped (accidentally of course) and he died laughing...I thought he was still asleep. He just rolled over and looked at me as he laughed and said after seeing how embarrassed I was, "No worry to this. I love your poots too." :luv: That is true love.

It is so very different when you are living together. When my husband walked in the bathroom when I was using it I just looked up at him and he got what he came in for then left the door open and from then on I don't think that we have closed the door. I even forgot to close the door when my friend came in the room and i seen him grab the door. I was so embaressed and so was she. Oh well stuff happens.

I really can't think of things that I have really given up and he has been here almost 4 months. He will go tonight to pray and then when tell me when EID is and I will make sure I have the big feast ready for him. I am christian and he is muslim and I respect his religion adn culture as he respects mine. He has even attended church with me and I love him so much.

Shesha or how ever you spell it smoking the Hooka I love it. I dont' smoke ciggerettes but I do smoke the hooka. He smokes both that is his option as he smokes outside. The dog well she sleeps at the foot of our bed and he was unsure of how he was going to handle it but is good as long as she doesn't get on our bed. He loves her and I think he is surprised how much he does. He even takes her for rides in his car since it has leather seats.

Life is great and I enjoy every minute of it. I take thngs one day at a time and God only knows what is in my future so I don't need to worry about that I only have today. Recovery does great things for one's outlook.
