Hello everyone,

My wife recently went through her interview process in Juarez and fortunately she is from their so we had no issues with accommodations. While I was waiting outside the consulate during her interview I spoke with many people going through many different types of visa processes. Several of the people were from other cities throughout Mexico. The one thing they all had in common was that they all tried to stay in hotels next to the consulate and were afraid to venture away from the immediate area.

My wife had an idea that she thought would be appealing to offer people traveling to Juarez. She would like to put together a travel package to offer people better accommodations and an opportunity to experience what the city has to offer. The package also would include someone to transport you to and from the airport, restaurants, entertainment, shopping and hotels. My wife’s parents are wonderful and trustworthy people that would manage this from Juarez. We would offer several hotel options as well as restaurants and entertainment.

We think this would be a valuable service to offer and allow people to enjoy their time spent in Juarez as well as feel safe. We would also recommend the best places to get photos or any other items needed for the interview.

We know everyone can take care of all their accommodations by themselves but offering a service to take some of the worry out of their travel might be of value to some.

I think that sounds like an excellent plan. Something like that would definitely appeal to me if I were in Mexico.

There's a great taxi driver that advertises on a few boards and who I used when in Juarez. He would be a great addition to your plan!

I do think that many prefer to stay near the consulate, if not because of safety, but because of access. I know that personally, no matter how nice and economical a hotel is, and no matter that I had transportation from the hotel to the clinic and consulate, nothing beats being two blocks away and being able to jump back and forth easily.

I think it would definitely be an interesting package for people wanting to discover Juarez for Juarez's sake, but most people dealing with the consulate both a)want to get in and get out of there ASAP b)don't have the money to take advantage of Juarez's charms.

Just my two cents. :)

I agree people want to stay close but the prices of restaurants etc are twice the price around the consulate and several people I talked with there had bad lodging experiences, especially ones that had to spend more time there because of the waiver process. I know this wouldn't be for everyone but some people may have a little extra money and want to enjoy their time a little more.

I agree. Most people seem to be primarily concerned with being very close to the consulate and getting in and out of the city as fast as possible. Packages would be a nice idea for people who are interested in exploring the city, but I haven't seen many on the immigration forums that have any interest in that (mostly because there is so much misinformation regarding safety, and because the only reason they are there in the first place is immigration related).

We also h in Juarez for have thought about offering an apartment and employment service for people that have to remain in Juarez for an extended period. If someone has to go through the waiver process or is required to wait during a ban.

Has anyone heard about the new Consulate being built in Juarez?

I believe they have been "talking" about it for several years.
