Biometrics Appointment Scheduled 20 hours away

I put down a physical address in Utah, but because my wife and I are students, I put the mailing address in my hometown in the Midwest.

On my wife’s profile, it shows her physical address in Utah, and her mailing address in the Midwest. So naturally USCIS thinks we would like to do the appointment where we aren’t living. I’ve looked this up a bit and it seems like it’s relatively common (which doesn’t make one iota of sense).

I could change the mailing address to Utah (perhaps a relative here), but that doesn’t solve this problem.

Has anyone tried to change the location of biometrics? We can’t really travel that far in the middle of the school year, as that’s extremely disruptive not to mention expensive. I’m going to try calling them today, and probably change the mailing address to a relative here in Utah if I can (but online it says I can’t change the addresses at this point).

My thought process right now is to start the rescheduling process since it takes them forever and to avoid being considered a "no show" without attempting to reschedule. But we will still try to go to our local ASC on the day/time of the appointment and hope they let us do it despite the fact the location is incorrect. If they refuse us, at least we started the reschedule process already. If they accept us, I think I could just call USCIS and tell them we no longer need to reschedule.
