That’s interesting, I was under the impression O1 visa has to be stamped from home country, do you mind sharing more details about what didi you do to change the status and how long it took to process?

It was the same time as O1 visa, they are processed together. I did expedited processing, so it took under 15 calendar days (6/12-6/22)

Just curious for those who USCIS recently forward form I-612 to DOS, what was your wait time at the USCIS?  I just checked and saw that USCIS processing time increased to 12 months…It looks like the whole process is getting so much longer 😑

That is accurate. In my case it took them one year exactly to forward to DOS. When did you apply with USCIS?

For old birds who have been pending with DOS only for more than a year (mine 17 months), have you ever tried to expedite your case (not regular inquiry as it is useless)?

I did. Well my lawyer did, writing about a change in circumstance, they just sent generic response and when he pushed, they didn’t reply to his email at all.
I am at 17 months plus a few weeks too

In my case, (I am also at 17 months mark with DoS), I tried to expedite with DoS using several evidences, it was denied. Later I used senator's office for 2-3 times, they all got generic response. From the last 5 months, I haven't done any expedite seeing its useless.

Oh shoot! You should expedite with them, since you have been waiting for more than their estimated time.

Amazing! They just posted it on Facebook, I see. She said her husband and her were Fulbrighters and they filed for their kiddo. They did cover different reasons.

Hi guys,

I just found my  hardship waiver received the favorable recommendation on 07/12/2023. The I-612 and I-613 were received on April 07, 2022 by DOS. Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations! 🎆Did you have Gov funding? What was the basis for the hardship?
