Any idea if this significant delay is equally affecting all J1 waivers? Or just the hardship? I know someone who got approved within few months for another type if waiver but not sure if his case is just an outlier or if it’s the trend.

It seems that the delays only affect hardship/persecution cases.

Hi All,

New to this forum. USCIS portal shows advisory opinion requested from DOS on March 21, 2022. However, DOS portal doesn't show I-612/I-613 as received. I contacted DOS and they replied that they haven't received these forms from USCIS. My status is expiring in August 2022 and therefore I am quite worried.

It takes around a month for DOS to upload I-612/1-613 on their site. In my case, USCIS sent them on Sept 22/2021 , but DOS showed them as received on October 17/2021.

USCIS Filed May, 2021

DOS - I612 received October 2021

awaiting further and hopefully soon.

Goodluck everyone

I’m one month behind you. Filed in June, 2021 and I612 received by DOS in November, 2021.

I’m hoping and praying to get it before 9/30/2022 so I can claim my DV lottery GC but I know it’s a long shot! 😞

Have you tried congressional help yet?

Mine took three months to update at the DOS online portal after the request sent by the USCIS on Mid December 2021!

They are still not visible on DOS portal. However, I contacted DOS and they said my file is complete. I tried expedite but they denied. My status expires August 2022. My hardship is with my USC child medical basis and I am unsure what to do if my status expires with waiver pending.
