I wish you the very best! Waiting sine Nov 2021 and I know exactly how frustrating it is!

If I may ask, how much did it cost? How long did the lawyer take to file? And if you’re comfortable sharing lawyer’s name and contact info?

I am planning on doing the same and I would truly appreciate your help.

Cost was $5000

Took him 2 weeks to file

I have finally filled for writ of mandamus about a month ago.

I have been waiting since sept of 2021 at DOS for an answer.

You did the right thing, waiting since 2021 is truly inhumane and the State Department should pick up the pace and decide on these cases faster. Delaying hardship cases can only create more hardship. Please keep us updated about your case.

Thanks for taking this step! Please keep updating the thread with your experience regarding this process, I forecast many of us will revert to doing the same after waiting more than 1 year at DOS. The current situation is unbearable.

Hello everyone,

I am seeking your assistance. I submitted my exceptional hardship case to the Department of State (DOS) in March 2022, and it has been pending since then. I have some updates regarding my son's medical condition, which I believe can support my case and improve my chances of receiving favorable recommendations.

I am wondering whether I should submit a completely new hardship case or just send an updated hardship statement to the DOS.

I would be grateful for your insights and suggestions on this matter. Thank you.

I sent updated hardship statement and brief with some evidence and proof of the new hardship to the DOS. Today while I was checking the status of the case, I found new update (other) date June 1/2023. Does this mean that they considered the information I sent?

Hello everyone,

I am trying to understand how long processing of the form I-612 takes at USCIS. Looking at the timelines on the forum, it seems that it's fairly short, but mine was received by USCIS 9 months ago and is still pending. How long did it take you, if you submitted for hardship in the past 2 years? And have you found ways to expedite this step?

Mine took one year exactly at USCIS. After 9 months they sent me an RFE and I responded and they forwarded it to DOS at exactly the one year marker. Some people get lucky and USCIS forwards their cases to DOS fast, others must wait a whole year.

Mine is similar to yours, took like 8 months for me and I also received an RFE, I felt like I completely had to show my case all over again, but with more evidence and some was hard to get but I did it. But overall then it took like 10ish months to forward it to DOS, with DOS I have been waiting for half a year now.

I applied Aug 2021, they sent rfe Oct 2021 and then forwarded to dos feb 2022. So 6 months for me.

Wow yours is much much faster! Was your program via DOS or any other US Gov program? I wish mine would take this faster, mine did take a way longer at USCIS, it was like last minute for them to open my case and issue an rfe
