Hi,

Since the 2019 timeline post thread is getting no response at all, here is a new thread. I am hoping that the silence there is indicative of applications being processed and that there are no delays. Unfortunately this has not been my experience with DoS so far. They received

my I612 & I613 in November 2020, and it has been over 13 months waiting for the application to be processed. They have ignored multiple emails and multiple congressional inquiries.

I am curious to hear from those who are in the same boat. Please share your experience. Thank you!

The cases I remember took 1.5 years and that was pre-COVID.

You've only waited 13 months, so that's not that much.

You should post the full information from the DOS website (like when each thing arrived) to get a better sense of where your case is at and whether there's something else you can do.  When did USCIS forward it to DOS? In some cases they've been taking 6-9 months, so that's going to put you on a much longer timeline. Than, do you have to ask sponsor views, like Fulbright? That's going to take longer as well.

It’s been 13 months since DoS received I613 from USCIS. The case with USCIS took 2 years and then they sent their recommendations to DoS. So basically now I have been waiting for 3 years.

And yes I was on Fulbright. DoS still hasn’t asked for sponsor’s views. My case with them stopped moving after November 2020.

Hi, my case has been with DoS since Dec 2020, means they received my I612 and I613 from USCIS in December 2020. I haven't heard back anything as of now.

I agree, hopefully someone else will come here to share the timeline. I just completed 12 months with DoS. Thank you for creating the thread

Hi, I have a similar case too. My hardship waiver with USCIS started in 2019. And in March 2021 USCIS requested DOS opinion. I didn’t know that we can apply to DOS at same time, so I sent my waiver application to DOS 6 months after USCIS requested their opinion. DOS received my I-612 and I-613 in December 2021 and I haven’t got any updates since then. I’m not sure what to do now. Should I email them or contact my local congress office for help?

How are you applying to DOS on your own? You should've sent the application to DOS at the same time with USCIS...

Not a lot of time has passed since December 2021 - you should wait. It can take them up to 12 months sometimes to review

I filed at the same time at first, but I think I did it wrong because I didn’t hear anything from them, and I somehow thought they got it ,but when I check my USICS I realized they never received it. Is it going to effect their decision on my case?

Don’t worry! I did that too and that was my lawyer’s fault. Now you just have to wait. DoS doesn’t respond to congressional inquiries, at least this is in my case.
