Green card renewal address question

About to apply for 10 yr GC renewal and just realized I have not updated addresses the last few years. What should I do? It looks like addresses can be updated online using form AR11. Should I update online and apply for renewal using the current address; or should I just enter current address in the GC renewal form and not use form AR11?

The form AR 11 asks for current and previous address. Neither would have been in the system. Or should I enter the last address in the USCIS system as the "previous address" (I assume the previous address is used to identify my record) even though it is not the one immediately previous to my current address? Would this cause any issues?

Thank you in advance for any input!

Step 1 is file AR-11 immediately and save the confirmation

Step 2 is prepare to somehow explain why

Entering “last address” fraudulently simply compounds the problem that I believe you are realizing you have.   You are going to need to file honestly because they will be able to easily pull an address history on you.

Review the “failure to notify change of address” below.  It can, depending on how they choose to handle it, be a deportable offense.  The law as written says “shall be removed” so in our case and in all our travels we never, ever failed to keep it updated.

Good luck.

Apply for renewal using your current address. You can do AR -11 as well. Don't worry too much on it, no issues. Provide actual address history not based on when you changed the address with uscis.

I dare say most LPRs forget to update their addresses with DHS on time or at all and despite that ICE has not overwhelmed its detention camps with  such violators.  Fwiw it never affected me.  And  I’ve never encountered a form that demanded to know why I didn’t file AR-11.

File AR-11 online now.

File I-751 as soon as you can or after you file AR-11

Thank you so much for the information, everyone!

@iwannaplay54, I certainly am not trying to intentionally provide false information, I did not have any pending applications with USCIS and did not realize a change of address was still required. Wondering if I should enter the last address on file as the "previous address" in AR-11, as opposed to the actual address previous to the current one, is bc I thought that would be how the system matched the records in order to update an old address to the new.

It sounds like the best approach forward is to submit an AR-11 with the actual previous and current addresses, then submit the GC renewal form.
