Lost old passport with a valid tourist visa

Hello,
My mother has applied and been granted a 10 years tourist visa in 2020. When the passport with the visa expired, she filed to renew it which required giving the Moroccan passport agency the expired passport with the valid visa. The agency then issued a new passport but failed to return the old passport with the visa. It has been 6 weeks since and we're afraid they have lost it.
The issuing consulate was the Casablanca, Morocco consulate.
Anybody went through the same situation ? I was wondering if they can replace the visa or if it's gonna be a new visa application.

It'll be a new application. It is possible they may issue visa without an interview but a fresh application is needed.

I'm sorry to hear that, frustrating. Have you tried contacting the local consulate there to see what they recommend? Always worth a shot.

I think making a new appointment makes sense. If they ask what happened to the currently valid visa, she can just explain.

Yes I sent an email to the consulate and am waiting on there response. 😊

I'm hoping they can replace the visa.

You typically will need a police report confirming the loss. You may as we get one now.

Just another random guy from the internet with an opinion, although usually backed by data!

Well you know for a fact it’s lost or they just can’t find it? Go back to the agency and have them look for it. Should’ve emphasized you need the old passport back when you applied for new one.

You will need to send the new passport thru Aramex to get the new visa page added to it

The 2 criminal reports for Morocco are not needed for tourist visa

they do fingerprints and check thru the system

trying to get an answer online or by phone to Casa embassy is about impossible

Check this site and read Number 7 (for renewal of tourist US visa in Morocco) it does mention Aramex and long waits

https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ma/ma-niv-visarenew.asp

At the end of the visa adjudication process, the U.S. Consulate will return your documents and your passport to you at the chosen document delivery address in your profile. When the documents are dispatched you will receive an email with the tracking number. You can change the delivery address by accessing your profile. If issued, your passport will contain your visa.

Unfortunately, she will need to submit a new visa application, pay the fees, and schedule an interview.  She will not qualify for an interview waiver.

If you check the requirements for renewing a visa without an interview (https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ma/ma-niv-visarenew.asp#VisaRenewals), one of them is that your prior visa was "...not lost, stolen, or revoked and you can submit your passport with your prior visa".
