Quick, help! Vaccination Supplement Question

Hey guys. Aidan has his appointment with the Civil Surgeon in Orlando today, to get his vaccination supplement (I-693A). We're going to tell them that he's had chickenpox and hopefully they'll accept this, but if not, we'll try to get the titre. This process will cost $50 for the transfer of info to the I-693A, plus the cost of either the titre or the varicella vaccine. More money that we really don't have. :(

Anyway...I was reading on here that we're supposed to be bringing a copy of the DS-3025 for the civil surgeon to transfer the information to the I-693A. We don't have a DS-3025!! Aidan's medical was two days before his interview, so the people at the medical kindly sent all his medical information straight to the US Embassy in London...therefore, Aidan doesn't have copies of any of his medical stuff!

The receptionist at the Civil Surgeon told us to bring his passport and shot records...will his shot records from Ireland be enough or do we need the DS-3025?? If so, we're totally screwed.

Take his shot records from Ireland and hope for the best. The I-693A asks the doc to certify to ALL the required vaccinations - the DS-3025 doesn't really do that.

If the civil surgeon cannot tell what vaccines have been administered from shot records, I'm sure he will want to administer the vaccines in order to fill out the I-693A.

It will depend on the civil surgeon. The one we went to was pretty lax. He didn't ask for any proof of chicken pox and said that some sort of immunization record would be a fine alternative to the actual medical worksheet.

Good luck!

This is good news! Hopefully we'll have a laid-back sort of Civil Surgeon, too!

Rebecca, Aidan's records clearly show which vaccines he's had. They're on official paper and stuff...so let's just hope our Civil Surgeon doesn't wanna be a jerk and try to make Aidan get all his vaccines over again. Cuz that would suck. :(

Good luck! worse case senario, he will have to have blood work done to see if he is still immune to his previous vaccinations. But his records should be suffcient.

I took the DS3025 with us to the civil surgeon and also mailed a copy with the AOS. $50 is a pretty good price considering, in my humble opinion, civil surgeons have been licensed by the Federal Government to steal!

If he says you need a blood test to determine which vaccine you need, then ask him, how much it costs for the blood test versus just having the vaccine again. Our civil surgeon made my wife get a lab test, which ended up costing $350. He then said she needed to get the MMR again, because the antibody count was low. Essentially we spent $350 to determine whether a $15 shot was required.
