Hi friends,

My husband is in Khartoum, Sudan where there is civil unrest. I petitioned for him two years ago in December of 2019. We became documentarily qualified by the NVC in May 2021. The NVC won’t expedite our visa even though I’m pregnant and due in early 2022. Our lawyer is absolutely worthless and my Senator’s office won’t respond to emails. The consulate in Khartoum provides automated messages to serious inquiries. We are at a standstill and desperate to be reunited for our child and the humanitarian conditions in Sudan leave my husband at risk. Any ideas on what else to do?

I’m currently on hold with the NVC for 31 minutes.

not a reason to expedite the interview

It has to be one of the reason's given that affect the USC here

also if case is still at NVC,  the embassy will know nothing about it

the civil unrest in Sudan ,  so far,  has been protest and not riots like we have seen during the San Francisco riots or Chicago where stores and cars were burned and looted

and these protests have been going on since December 2018

I know its a major issue as the military shut down internet and cell phone service / we could not get ahold of our friend (for some time) who traveled back with his wife and baby so family could see the new child ,  We too worried for their safety and prayed for their return to  the US .  he finally called to say they were safe and it was protests with some tear gas used at times

he continued by saying the humanitarian toll of inflation ,  shortage of medical supplies and cost of food was the real problem

you have my prayers and i hope this can be resolved in your favor soon

incha yekbel (means allah hear my prayers)

You will need a plan B.
