May also sound like you need then for child care, by all means they should try just do not make any plans

They do not have any plans as of yet. I am just trying my best to get the things sorted on my end. But yeah thanks for the feedback.

You may not qualify for visitor visa but you will get interview faster for IV if expedite is approved.

Yeah I am trying my best to get an expedite and tourist visa was the last option I wanted to try if expedite won't work. Thanks.

The tourist visa would be a very hard sell.  First, they are DQ'd at NVC for their IR5 visas so they have clear immigrant intent.  Second, the interview wait time for a tourist visa is longer than the wait for their IR5 visa.

The expedite request has to show evidence on how the benefit sought (in this case, your parent's interview and subsequent immigration) will solve the situation.  You mentioned it is your first pregnancy and you need guidance and support.  What about your wife's parents and family?  What type of emotional support would you need?  Do you have any medical references to back up your claim of requiring support?  What type of physical support do you need?  Are you or your wife disabled and you need someone to physically take care of you?  Why specifically do you need your parents and not anyone else?  You will need to be able to address these questions and related ones if you want to present a strong case.

Just stating "I want to expedite because my wife is pregnant" would be denied as soon as they finish reading your email.  To them, they would interpret it as "you are using your wife's pregnancy as an excuse to bypass the queue."

I do have a letter from my wife's OB/GYN on specific needs we have and we are presenting our case based on that need only. I am just not trying on the grounds of normal pregnancy. So I appreciate your input and feedback but I am submitting a stronger case from my end.

You might want to edit your original post to say this.

You can definitely try! But beware that tourist visas are taking a long time too.

Also, for a tourist visa your parents need to prove strong ties to home country, but they have already shown immigrant intent. They might have that extra obstacle. And also, it might be interpreted as your parents are coming to work.
But like I said, they can try! Remember that this application is completely theirs, so there is no invitation letter, etc etc

Emergency as in its our first pregnancy and we do not have anyone by our side to help emotionally, physically during and delivery and after. So we want our parents to be here as the support and as per the information I have Mumbai is backlogged in IR5 interviews and right now they are conducting interviews for DQ'ed cases from June 2020 that is last year. So IR5 interview appointment can take a long time for us as we just got DQ'ed this month.

Pregnancy and a visit for grandparents is not an emergency.

I've not seen one for grandparents.  Expedite for the father of the baby is much different.

You’re right. I completely overlooked it’s for grandparents!

Unless I do not understand something, why would your wife being pregnant necessitate an expedite for your parents?

I read the support part that you noted, but I do not see this flying at the consulate. @jd2502

Personally, I think you are trying to use any possible reasons to jump IR5 queue in India.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Thanks all for the input and appreciate your valuable feedback on this matter. I was just looking for the right opinion before making any further decisions based on the experience people have had here. So I appreciate each and every response. I will try my best for an expedite, if not then I will just wait for my turn to get an appointment when the interview is scheduled for IR5. Thanks.

You can’t try. They have to qualify on their own for a tourist visa.
