I have never visited any country like Iran, Irak or Siria, but one of my parents is from Irak.

Unfortunately, this plus your misunderstanding of the question are two huge strikes against you.

It is very rare for the Consulate to look at documents, they are interviewing you not documents and they simply do not have time. Normally 3 or 4 questions and that is it. They have most of sometimes all the information they need on the application.

I've known people who got approved for B visas where they did actually ask for documents and actually looked at them. So, even though it's rare, still makes sense to bring them. You never know what they will ask for until you get in front of the window.

I will bring them anyway. I want to have the documents that support my DS160 plus the schedule of the next trip.

Take paperwork showing ties to your country. B2 is harder to get than ESTA. So, sure, the mistake is plausible and that won't be a problem. The issue is that the bar for a B2 is higher.

I understand, this is not the ESTA. I just hope that the officer is reasonable and willing to examinate my case.

Of 2021?  Not a chance.

Indeed, my family have already departed, they didn't have any problem in the airport though. Today I have booked an appointment for the end of March 2022. I hope is not too soon if I'm planning to travel in August, but due to COVID there are not many options.

I understand that. With huge strikes you mean disqualifyin reasons? I mean, I don't have ties with my father, and he works at the airport in a technical work and is constantly moving to the US for work. He has the spanish citizenship and he doesn't visit Irak for more than 30 years ago.

Now they ask me to ask the Visa in my local embassy. Im devastated because my stupidity. Now, my question is how hard is getting the B2 visa from Spain due to an error of this kind. Not for now, but for the next year that we are going to travel again. I am 26 years old, I have a permanent job working as a public servant, I also have an apartment on property. I have never visited any country like Iran, Irak or Siria, but one of my parents is from Irak.

Your chances are very good indeed. Adjusted refusal rate is 20%. So at crude face value you have an approximately 80% chance.

Think positive, prepare for your interview and don’t take it for granted. It looks like a comical error however they may take it seriously and do background checks which may take a while.

All the best!

Just another random guy from the internet with an opinion, although usually backed by data!
