I am re-reading the i864 instructions and can I just tell those of you that responded to me that I am KICKING MYSELF for somehow missing the very clearly stated directions saying submit either a transcript with no supporting docs OR a full return with supporting docs.  I don't remember why I thought transcripts with W2's were appropriate:(  Thanks for pointing it out.

I'm going to send the full tax return and supporting W2, since that is what is specifically asked for in the RFE.  At least that is my plan, unless someone wants to tell me the transcript alone is good enough for the RFE.  The transcript sure would be easier.  So you responded to the RFE with a transcript and W2 and it was accepted, even though your RFE asked for the return?  Also, thanks for sending your old thread.

So I think there might be a confusion here with words. I sent the tax return transcript (downloaded from the irs website) AND the w2s

In my original submission I sent tax return transcripts downloaded from the IRS website and W2's.  But reading the i864 instructions it says send either full tax return and W2's OR send tax return transcript.  It is all confusing - lol.  In answer to the RFE I am going to send the full tax return and W2 since that is what it says.

From the i864 instructions and why I think I mucked it up the first time:

"If you provide a photocopy of your Federal individual income tax returns, you must include a copy of each and every Form W-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your returns. Do not include copies of these forms if you provide an IRS transcript of your Federal individual income tax returns rather than a photocopy unless you filed a joint income tax return with your spouse and are qualifying using only your income."

From my RFE and why I am going to submit the full tax return and W2:

"Submit a complete copy of the petitioning sponsor’s Federal income tax return, including all supporting tax documents (W-2s, 1099s, Form 2555, and tax schedules) filed with the return, for the most recent tax year."

Don't worry, just provide what they are actually asking for and it will all be good. No need to overthink, it's generic RFE they are sending out lately.

I've been reading through a bunch of threads today and have seen you respond saying the IRS transcript will be sufficient for RFE's.  Most of those posts were from a few years ago.  Do you think that the transcript can apply in this situation?  It sure would be easier to deal with the 2 page transcript.  I see a lot of support for the transcript from others too.  And now I am overthinking it.  Thanks!

From RFE "Submit a complete copy of the petitioning sponsor’s Federal income tax return, including all supporting tax documents (W-2s, 1099s, Form 2555, and tax schedules) filed with the return, for the most recent tax year."

It seems the IRS transcript I had was masked (just learned about this from reading threads here).  SO the question about submitting transcript vs. full return is moot and I will have to send the full return.  Thanks to everyone that responded to my questions.

I just got the same thing. Pretty quick though. I sent it out on the 30th of November, and they got it on the 2nd of December. Checked my mail yesterday, and signed up to the online account today. Once I went in, I saw that RFE - exactly the same.

The thing is, they gave me to the middle of March to submit the response. I suspect that they want me to file my taxes for 2021, and then submit the response. Just to make sure that I am still able to support my family. Because I sent them my 2020 tax transcript, ALL pay stubs for 2021, and letters of employment. The only thing is, even though I worked for the same place since March of 2020, technically, they were 2 different employers. I was hired as a full-time contractor originally, then moved to permanent in November of 2021, with a pay raise I might add. This is standard practice in IT (those who work in Tech will know what I am talking about). Anyway, I only had 2 paystubs from my current employer. So that might have popped a few red flags in their heads.

But it might be that I submitted a tax transcript instead of a W2 & 1099 + 1040.
